The Surgical Intensive Care Unit is a 15-bed unit located in the south tower of OU Health. This unit serves patients from eleven different surgical services, specializing in transplant, emergency general surgery, urology, surgical oncology, colorectal, plastics, and ENT. Frequent skills include CRRT, ECMO, and massive transfusion. SICU provides a fast-paced, high-acuity experience with opportunities for learning and professional development in a critical-care setting.

This unit cares for a variety of both lower acuity and complex critically ill patients with multifaceted disease processes requiring higher level of care and closer monitoring. The Medicine Stepdown/Intermediate unit offers a challenging environment where you can develop and enhance your complex nursing skills while making a significant impact on your community!
The Collaborative Care Model is an innovative new strategy dedicated to making sure that the Post Trauma unit has the right resources at the right place for our patients in a way that can be easily modified it to the patient's unique needs. In this model, a collaborative team made up of a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Care Team Associate will be assigned to a certain number of patients. In addition to those primary roles, there will also be additional support staff of a direct care pharmacist, a phlebotomist, and an EVS (Environmental Services) attendant. This model puts all the right people in all the right places to give the best care we can to our patients.
