The Role

The Engineering department at Blackpool and the Fylde college is growing, with over 100 people directly involved in the delivery of education, we are focused on providing an excellent educational experience for all our students and apprentices. We are very pleased to be growing our team of Senior Tutors to include a greater focus on the quality of education we provide. The Senior Tutor Learning, Teaching, and Assessment will join an existing team of three other Senior Tutors and help us to deliver high quality education across the area. Previous experience in engineering is not required, what we are looking for is someone who is passionate about pedagogy, excited about learning, and focused on supporting colleagues to deliver the highest standard of education to our learners. This role will require an ability to deliver training sessions to other educators, support people through mentoring, devise training plans and see them implemented, support with our growing delivery of education online, and demonstrate and support with effective use of virtual learning environments. A proven track record of delivering high quality education in either FE, HE or Apprenticeships is essential. Currently holding, or being willing to work towards, a Post Graduate Diploma or Masters in Education will be a requirement of the role. HMP/YOI Winchester is a busy Category B/C Local prison housing both sentenced and remand prisoners from the age of 18. The Education Department delivers relevant short courses that help prepare learners for employment upon release in three different Education areas in the prison.
Courses include: English and Maths Functional Skills (Entry 1 to Level 2), ESOL, ICT, Art, Cookery, Employability Skills, and Barbering. We also work closely with our prison colleagues to provide embedded Employability skills in the prison workshops for Carpentry, Recycling, Textiles and Enterprise Services.

The Role

You will be responsible for training staff and students on VLE and Eportfolio and any other relevant College systems. Assist the College in the creation of learning technology materials. Develop training and support materials for students and staff.

The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) at the South Thames Colleges Group is looking for a Digital Learning Resources Advisor - someone to support students and staff with the use of LRC services, online library and digital learning resources.

Based at Kingston College, the Digital Learning Resources Advisor will provide frontline support in the College Learning Centre and they will create online guides and content for the Group's Student Portal. They will select and embed digital resources, including e-books, in the Group's virtual learning environment. There are two staffed Learning Centres at Kingston College - a recently built, modern Learning Centre and the Learning Centre at the College's Creative Industries Centre.

We'd like our Digital Learning Resources Advisor to hold a Level 3 qualification and have experience of working in a customer focused environment, delivering a good or better level of customer service. You'll have excellent knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word as well as good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams. Able to work effectively without supervision, you'll be a strong team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to adopt an approachable manner when dealing with customers.

The ability to design and create good quality online content, including text, images and video, is desirable, as is experience of supporting users with technical support.

About the Role

Reduced Year contract: 38 weeks per year

The School of Events, Enterprise and Employability offers a wide range of study programmes and apprenticeship opportunities to both 16-18 and 19+ learners who are looking to pursue a career in Events, Marketing, Customer Service and Business sustainability. Our course offers range from Level 1, for learners who may be applying to college with limited previous experience of qualifications through to Level 3 Extended programmes of study which enable students to progress to higher education or supervisory positions within industry.

We provide help in class to scaffold learning, mentoring for those struggling with the social and emotional demands of college life, referrals to external and internal professionals for assessment (including for exams access arrangements) and work hard to ensure the inclusion of all our learners, particularly those with an Educational, Health and Care Plan. We enjoy close, positive relationships with our curriculum colleagues and external partners. This enables us to maximise the learning outcomes of all our young people with Special Educational Needs with a view to them gaining course offers for their next steps.

What You Will Do

• To be involved in planning and preparation and assessment of learning as part of the curriculum team.
• Providing in and out of class support to meet identified needs of students who have high needs.
• Providing curriculum teachers/assessors and SEND team members with verbal and written reports on students who have high needs or SEND and feedback against strategies used and progress towards outcomes on the EHCP.
• Attend annual reviews as requested and attend student meetings as required to update on progress and behaviours.
• Any other duties as determined by the line manager
• At the direction of the teacher/assessor, accompanying small groups of learners on local excursions related to programme of learning.
• Assist with personal care and medical requirements as necessary.
• Support students whom are less mobile and may use wheelchairs.

About You

• Qualification relevant to the post.
• Minimum L2 Award for Learning Support Practitioners Qualification or appropriate level 2 qualification or willingness to enroll to this within one year of appointment.
• Experience of working within a team who support students who have high needs or SEND to support their learning through identifying strategies and preparing young people for adulthood.
• Knowledge of preparation for adulthood and what it means for students with SEND.
• Strong Awareness of disability issues and equality and diversity issues.
• A willingness to be adaptable as role requires working across the college campuses and off-site visits with learners
