The Director leads all policies, procedures, and programs associated with the enterprise-wide workers' compensation program. Plans, organizes and researches complex issues involving major uncertainty areas in approach, methodology, or interpretation to identify appropriate solutions.

The incumbent directs employees' work in managing the organization's corporate workers' compensation program. The work includes complex projects/programs based on the Workers' Compensation Division's objectives and the strategic priorities of AHR and the FAA. The Director provides authoritative advisory services and/or develops authoritative policy interpretations regarding workers’ compensation for all Department of Transportation operating administrations. As a Program Manager (Chief - RD&T), you will:

• Oversee the design, evaluations, and improvement of analyses, research, and development for the purposes of: a) reducing the risks associated with transportation of hazardous materials and b) identifying and evaluating new technologies to facilitate the safe, secure, and efficient transportation of hazardous materials. (Duties include leading initiatives that 1) fill industry and organizational knowledge gaps, 2) create or identify new materials and technologies to improve transportation safety, and 3) leverage those results to minimize risks inherent to the transportation of hazardous materials.
• Oversee research, analyses, and provide advice on the management, technical development, implementation, assessment, evaluation, and coordination of the Research, Development and Technology (RD&T) branch.  Will also recommend new and innovative ideas, approaches and solutions to complex problems and unique issues that affect the organization’s ability to properly mitigate risk. Oversee developing processes, standard operating procedures, and communication channels – both internal and external – required to provide comprehensive support for PHMSA's hazardous materials transportation safety programs.
