SUMMARY
As a Senior Unit Secretary, your exceptional ability to mentor, train and guide others provides valuable support throughout the unit and efficient, organized information flow.
STATUS: Per Diem
LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital
DEPARTMENT: Acute General Surgery
SCHEDULE: D/E , Rotating weekends & holidays
ATTRIBUTES
- In lieu of degree, equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered
- Two (2) years of related work experience in a healthcare setting or customer service setting preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills
- Demonstrated experience with PC and office programs including, but not limited to: database management, spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadership & Patient Care. Provide training and mentoring to new team members; promote participation in organizational activities; greet visitors, patients and team members entering unit; provide escorts to other areas when needed; monitor and maintain nurse call system; respond to patient’s call for service as needed; daily rounding of patients on unit, update whiteboards, survey rooms for potential harm and ensure safety measures are in place
- Organization & Management. Responsible for administrative duties as assigned by Unit Nursing Leadership; organize the day-to-day operations of the unit; maintain patient flow for unit by verifying daily census and updating in Care Connect; answer telephone, routes calls and provide administrative support for nurses and physicians; maintain appropriate inventory and supply levels determined by unit
- Documentation. Create work orders, HELPSTAR tickets and report any unit needs to appropriate department; complete scanning of patient’s documentation in a timely manner; complete End of Life process, including documentation and notifications

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
