Solid base pay, benefits could use an upgrade
Pros: My base salary as a Software Engineer is competitive for the San Jose, CA office. The annual bonus program is a decent perk, especially for the semiconductor equipment industry. You're paid fairly for the work you do.
Cons: The health insurance options aren't great, honestly. High deductibles make things tough sometimes. Our 401k matching isn't as strong as I've seen at other mid-size corporate tech firms.
Advice to Management: Revisit the entire benefits package, especially healthcare plans. Stronger 401k matching would make a big difference in employee retention and satisfaction for technical roles.

Work-Life Balance is a Real Grind at Camtek
Pros: It's a solid place to learn new skills in the semiconductor industry. As a Process Engineer, I've picked up so much. The team I worked with was generally supportive too.
Cons: But honestly, the work-life balance is pretty bad here. Expect long weeks; 50-60 hours isn't uncommon. It's tough to make plans outside of work in the San Jose, CA office.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to rethink project timelines and staffing levels, especially for critical engineering roles. Burnout is a real issue when people can't disconnect.

Leadership needs to step up communication
Pros: The actual R&D and engineering teams are talented, especially in wafer metrology. There are good technical mentors. For Process Engineer roles, you get to work on cutting-edge inspection equipment in the Santa Clara, CA office. The company has a solid market position in the semiconductor space.
Cons: Leadership often seems out of touch with daily operational realities. Decisions can be slow and unclear. There's not much transparency or consistent feedback from upper management. It's tough to see a clear career path sometimes. Communication often feels one-way, which is frustrating as a mid-sized tech company grows.
Advice to Management: Work on improving communication channels from the top down. Be more transparent with strategic decisions and provide clearer growth opportunities for engineering talent. Listen to your teams more.
