Solid IoT Company, Weak on Career Path
Pros: You get to work in the interesting IoT industry, which is cool. The people are genuinely nice, and the remote work setup has decent flexibility. It's a pretty stable corporate environment, so job security feels okay.
Cons: There's not much of a clear career path for engineers here. I haven't seen many internal promotions, and you don't get much exposure to new technologies or different software stacks. Stagnation is a real concern if you're looking to advance your software career.
Advice to Management: Management needs to invest more in clear development plans for employees, especially for technical roles like Software Engineers. Create mentorship programs and offer more opportunities to learn new skills or move into leadership positions.

Okay place for new grads, but growth stalls
Pros: Good initial learning for a junior Software Engineer. You get to work on different parts of the IoT platform. The team is generally supportive, especially in the Atlanta area remote teams.
Cons: There's not much clear path for career advancement beyond the mid-level. It feels like you hit a wall. Opportunities for new technologies or taking on bigger projects are limited. Pay raises aren't great for software development roles once you're past the initial bump.
Advice to Management: Create clearer paths for career progression for experienced Software Engineers. Invest more in training and new tech. Offer better competitive salaries for telematics industry professionals to help with retention.

Okay for now, not a ton of upward movement.
Pros: I've learned a lot technically as a Software Engineer, especially working with new IoT solutions. The projects are pretty stable, dealing with real telematics data. You get decent exposure to different parts of the system, which is good for skill-building.
Cons: Career growth here isn't super clear for individual contributors. There's no real path for moving up, and promotions are rare unless someone leaves. It feels like a mid-sized company where you might plateau after a few years.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer career paths for individual contributors. It would help a lot with retention and employee motivation.

Technical Support Specialist

Okay Work-Life Balance, Depends on Role
Pros: As a Technical Support Specialist, I mostly had a pretty standard 40-hour work week. The hybrid work setup really helped manage my time better. It's solid for most days in the telematics industry.
Cons: On-call rotations can be tough and sometimes push you past 50 hours, especially when supporting their critical IoT solutions. It felt like some teams in the Rochelle Park office were always swamped with urgent client issues.
Advice to Management: Try to better distribute on-call rotations to ease the burden on individual Technical Support Specialists. More dedicated night/weekend shifts could help improve overall work-life balance for those supporting critical IoT solutions.
