About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Developer (m/w/d) with a focus on Mainframe and Java to join our team. In this pivotal role within our "Mainframe Development KVVD" chapter, you will serve as a bridge between legacy systems and modern technology stacks. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and optimize our complex Mainframe environment while actively driving the modernization process towards Java-based architectures. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence significant transformation initiatives, connecting traditional Mainframe logic with contemporary Java applications, and shaping the future of our core systems. As a key contributor, you will not only develop solutions but also act as a trusted advisor and enabler for your team during this exciting system evolution.
Qualifications
- Extensive professional experience (Senior level) in software development, particularly with Mainframe systems.
- Proficiency in Mainframe technologies such as z/OS, Cobol, DB2, and JCL.
- Strong full-stack Java development skills, including expertise with Spring Boot, Angular, Kafka, MQ, and REST APIs.
- Experience in the healthcare or insurance sector, with a deep understanding of (policy) management systems.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, particularly Scrum or Kanban.
- Ideally, initial experience with Google Cloud and Google AI, owing to strategic partnerships.
- Excellent communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Responsibilities
- Deeply understand and maintain our complex Mainframe environment, ensuring continuous, high-quality operation.
- Participate actively in the planning, design, and implementation of transformation initiatives, including build, buy, or re-engineering strategies.
- Lead the transition from legacy Mainframe systems to modern Java-based architectures, integrating Mainframe logic with new applications.
- Provide consultancy and guidance to team members throughout the system modernization process, fostering best practices and innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of new and existing systems.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and system stability.
