Job Description:
The Nutrition Services Manager III is responsible for the operation and management of nutrition service functions within a given facility. Utilizes critical thinking skills and advanced knowledge to ensure departmental focus and vision is aligned with the hospital, regional, and Intermountain business plans.
Position Details
- Shift: Full Time. 8:30am-5:00pm Mon-Fri. This position will work in the hospital. No on call requirements.
Scope
Manages Nutrition Services employees and is responsible for assigned food service functions, such as patient services, inventory management, production, retail, and catering. Assists the System-level Directors in department budget preparation and monitoring. The Nutrition Services Manager III has high catering volumes; on average has >600 retail transactions and >400 patient meals per day; may have oversight of >100 direct reports; and has supervisor-level positions onsite. Meal equivalents (i.e., meals, trays, floor stock, catering, etc.) are in the 2,000 - 5,000 range.
Job Essentials
- Implements established best practices to deliver exceptional care and service at the appropriate cost.
- Manages employees to ensure that food safety standards and regulatory guidelines are met.
- Monitors quality and satisfaction scores. In conjunction with the System-level Directors, develops and implements plans to achieve desired outcomes.
- In conjunction with the System-level Directors, establishes financial objectives by assisting in budget planning, forecasting, revenue, and measuring productivity while maintaining a viable financial status.
- Provides value-based leadership to establish high functioning teams and operations in an accountable environment.
- In conjunction with the System-level Directors, facilitates all human resources functions including: hiring, training, mentoring, evaluating, conflict resolution, constructive discipline, and termination.
- Acts as a mentor for Caregivers and students using knowledge and experience to promote personal and professional growth and development.
- Represents nutrition services in interdisciplinary teams, committees, and meetings at a facility level.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Food Services, Nutrition, Business, or related field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Three years of food service experience in a manager or supervisor role.

ServSafe certification obtained within 90 days of hire date.

Demonstrated effective business and financial skills in restaurant or food service industry.

Demonstrated highly effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- and -
Experience using word processing, advanced or complex spreadsheet and database applications, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications, as well as computerized tracking systems.
- and -
Demonstrated experience in quality improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Food Services, Nutrition, Business, or related field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
- Registered Dietitian.
Active in business, food service, or nutrition professional organizations.
Demonstrated high functional skill set with Nutrition Services Software.
Physical Requirements:
- Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information.
- Operate computers and other equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
- See and read computer monitors and documents.
- Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
