Responsibilities:

• Draft and review contracts and agreements such as service agreement, collaboration or MOU and other related corporate agreement with clients and vendors to ensure adherence to statutory, regulatory and internal corporate policies. 
• Able to liaise with external lawyer of the ongoing legal proceedings such as negotiating settlements, defending against claims, pursuing claims on behalf of the company and contractual negotiation and provide necessary update to the company. 
• Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance.
• Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations.
• Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advise on possible legal issues.
• Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust.
• Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rights.
• Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces.
• Manage litigation risk and update legal development affecting the company. 
• Liaise, manage and monitor external solicitors' performance including compilation of solicitors' monthly report for circulation to management and/or reporting to the respective committee or Board of Directors as the case maybe.  
• Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a legal counsel in business environment.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
• Full understanding of the influences of the external environment of a corporation.
• Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
• Good judgement and ability to analyse situations and information.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Law or J.D. degree.

Location: Clarke Quay

Working Hours: 5-Days Work Week

Work Type: 6-Month Contract (Extendable for 3 months)

Salary: $ 4,950 per month

What you will be working on?

• PA duty to senior judicial officers;
• Support judicial officers in court proceedings and court hearings which include arranging/confirming hearing dates, booking of court rooms, engagement of relevant language support services and updating of judicial officers’ calendars;
• Provide end to end administrative support for cases (file record movement and arrangement, retrieval of correspondence, classification of new and existing cases for follow up action);
• Update and maintain documents, databases and systems (e.g. file classification, mail directives) to ensure accuracy and within prescribed timelines;
• Involve in divisional and cross-divisional projects, judiciary’s efforts in digitalisation and transformation.

What are we looking for?

• Singaporean only
• Minimum Diploma in Legal Studies or relevant discipline.
• At least 3 - 5 years of relevant working experience
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Conversant in use of IT and related applications

• Key functions will include identification, assessment, management and mitigation/control of legal risks in the region and in Singapore.
• Generate / review of all in-house legal documents, including standard terms and conditions/ contracts and standard forms for internal/external use, internal/external publications, marketing and publicity materials.

Requirements:

• At least 10 years of relevant working experience in a financial institution or reputable law firm (specifically, with experience in capital markets, securities and/or derivatives).
• Sound knowledge of relevant laws (including Securities Futures Act and the Financial Advisers Act).
• Candidates should be self-motivated, collaborative, adaptable and possess a strong analytical ability with attention to detail.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are key, and the Candidate needs to be able to work independently and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
• Prior experience in capital markets, prime brokerage and/or derivatives would be an advantage.
• Detail-oriented, able to apply good judgment and experience in making accurate and precise recommendations.
• Experience in partnering management on diagnosing difficult legal circumstances, filtering down into simpler terms, building constructive scenarios that lead to effective legal recommendations that minimize legal risk exposure.
