Role Overview:
The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team in a variety of corporate matters, with a specific focus on our Chinese client base. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in corporate law, be fluent in both English and Mandarin, and possess a keen understanding of the cultural nuances that influence business and legal practices in both Singapore and China
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive support to lawyers, including document preparation, research, and case management.
• Assist in drafting legal documents such as contracts and agreements,
• Facilitate communication between the legal team and Chinese clients, including translating documents and correspondence.
• Maintain and organize legal files, ensuring all client information is kept confidential and secure.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, preferably with exposure to corporate law and international clients.
• Fluent in Mandarin and English, both written and spoken, is essential.
• Strong understanding of the legal and business environment.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members from diverse backgrounds.

Working for a successful law firm who have offices based all over Somerset.
We currently have 2 roles available for Legal Assistant/ Secretaries for this organisation. One for the Family department and the other for the Conveyancing department.
Both roles are full-time permanent, paying £23k.
Working hours are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm. 35 hours per week.
Your new role
Both roles will require the duties below. However, the family secretary role will be based in the Taunton office. However, the conveyancing/ private client secretary will be required to travel to most of their offices during the working week, which are all within local travelling distance-the cost of the travel will either be reimbursed or a company car provided. This info is currently being looked into.
To provide both clerical and administrative support to fee earners, either as part of a team or individually.
The role plays a vital part in the administration and smooth running of the business. Secretaries are involved with the coordination and implementation of office procedures and may be responsible for specific tasks or projects and, in some cases, oversee and supervise junior staff.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be confident in your ability to work well under pressure, conducting matters professionally, whilst providing a friendly, courteous and knowledgeable service.
A driving licence and your own vehicle are essential for this role.
You must have audio typing experience to be successful in either of these roles.
Minimum 2 years experience within a legal role.

Role Overview:

Main Duties:
• Assisting a Residential Property Lawyer
• Efficient handling of a busy varied caseload including all types of residential conveyancing matters
• Working as part of an experienced team and making a positive contribution
• Meeting and getting to know clients and maintaining high levels of client service
• Liaising with other agencies including estate agents, other parties’ solicitors, search agencies, mortgage lenders, brokers etc.
• Maintaining high professional standards of competence and financial integrity
• Keeping up to date with legal developments, including compliance with CQS and continuing professional and development requirements
• Engaging in marketing activities to promote and develop the firm’s presence both locally and further afield
