The post holder will become a specialist in this area of care, with knowledge of minor skin surgical procedures, skin cancer conditions, treatments, and further developments. They will work in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team to further develop and maintain the delivery of best practice in the care and management of skin cancer patients from referral or diagnosis onwards and throughout their care pathway.

They will act as a highly specialised role model for advanced practice, working closely with the multidisciplinary team and other key stakeholders. Undertake advanced clinical assessment and examination, including but not limited to: Clinical data interpretation, investigation and treatment. Resuscitation and first stage management. Diagnosis and disease management. Delivery of expert clinical interventions and treatments. Non-medical prescribing. The post holder will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team. They will be expected to sit on the junior tier medical rota and work together with the medical and nursing teams to deliver a high quality service. The post holder will be expected to cover days, nights and some weekend shifts in their job plan. There will also be dedicated allocated time for management and continuous professional development. Work under supervision to learn to provide autonomous expert clinical practice in clinical clerking of the patient on arrival to the unit including assessment, diagnosis and development of medical treatment plans, for a range of patients with acute, non-acute, and chronic medical conditions. This will include analysis of symptoms, initiation of interventions i.e. IV cannulation and ordering of diagnostic tests and x-rays as required, then interpret and adjust treatment regimens as appropriate. Work under supervision to learn to recognise the rapidly deteriorating patient and provide clinical interventions and prescribe the medical management plan according to clinical needs. Makes clinical decisions on transfer of acutely unwell patients, and liaises with receiving medical team. Colposcopy is based within The Womens Health Unit where a number of out-patient clinics provide person centred care for women with a wide variety of gynaecological needs.
