Key Responsibilities:

• Support the management in overseeing the Health & Safety aspects of the work environment.

• Drive, coordinate and implement all Workplace Safety and Health Initiatives.

• Conduct regular WSH inspections and follow-up actions to ensure safety compliance.

• Produce Site Workplace Safety and Health Reports regularly.

• Ensure compliance of operations with Workplace Safety and Health regulations and statutory requirements

Skills & Qualification:

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a Health & Safety role.

• No prior experience in Human Resources is required – on the job training will be provided.

• Experience managing Blue Collared workmen - right from hiring, retaining & managing the expectations of the employees would be an added advantage.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

• Familiar with the local labour, health and safety legislation.

What you're good at:
Aside from having experience in a previous safety role with working knowledge ideally within the civil construction industry. You should have demonstrated examples to showcase:

Knowledge of AS/NZS 4801, ISO 14001, Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Act & Regulations
High attention to detail, accurate data and record keeping ability
Ability to identify H&S project risks through the provision of technical guidance relating to WHS Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice
Ability to read and interpret Project Risk Registers and Management Plans
Review subcontractor SWMS's & Task Hazard Review Cards onsite for completion and accuracy
Taking the initiative, to be on the lookout for improvement opportunities and championing improvements.
Certificate lV or equivalent tertiary qualifications

What you'll do (but not limited to):

Work closely with key stakeholders to develop effective relationships that facilitate the successful communication and implementation of AG-JV systems
Create and enter reports into the HSEQ System (i.e., incident reports, hazards, NCRs and OFIs)
Develop and review SWMS, Job Hazard Analyses and Permits to Work.
Onboard plant and equipment, facilitate operator authority to work assessments and undertake project inductions.
Lead proactive audits and inspections on site to ensure compliance with the project Health and Safety Management System.
Ensure project teams are adequately trained to perform their responsibilities and provide ongoing coaching to ensure total compliance with internal systems and legislative requirements
Influence a positive attitude and commitment towards safety across the business

Who We Need

The Retail Officer will be responsible for assisting in the overall operation of the Retail Pharmacy by ensuring that walk-in customers/patients’ requests are processed accordingly and daily sales records are updated regularly.
The responsibilities are as stated below.

• Ensure store housekeeping and merchandising standards are achieved.

Midlothian Council has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Environmental Health Officer to join our Business Regulation Team specifically working with the Food & Safety Unit. The team carries out regulatory functions in the areas of food safety, health and safety, and communicable disease to assist in providing a safe and healthy environment for people in Midlothian.

This role will allow for the growth and development of the successful individual.

Midlothian Council is a semi-rural authority located immediately south of the City of Edinburgh and is the fastest growing Local Authority in Scotland.

The role will be delivered on a hybrid working model giving the successful applicant the opportunity to combine working from home, in the field and in the office.

KNOWLEDGE

It is essential that you hold a degree in Environmental Health along with a post graduate diploma from REHIS or equivalent.

Travel throughout the area is an essential part of your job, so a driving licence and use of a car are pre-requisite.

1. Obtained the degree above and are scheduled to sit their professional examinations in September 2024, or
2. Qualified as a Food Safety Officer

EXPERIENCE
