The Storage Sales Engineer (SE) will work alongside and report directly to the HPE business manager, as part of the Sales Team and oversee the sales support of the companys products, specifically focussed on HPE Enterprise storage. The SE is an integral part of the sales organization and assists the sales team with pre-sales technical knowledge, presentations, partner enablement and relationship building within our partner base, and named accounts in-line with the expectations of the HPE BPSA program.
The SE works closely with our channel managers, prospects and partners as a subject-matter technical expert to demonstrate how a proposed solution meets and exceeds customer requirements, as well as selling and promoting the wider company value proposition.
The candidate must have 5+ years of experience in a technical pre-sales role focused on data center class storage solutions, preferably with significant experience in HPE server and storage environments. Onboarding onto the BPSA program will be supported and funded by us.
The Sales Engineer role requires someone who is driven to achieve results in a sales focused environment, shows commitment and a willingness to progress both career and personally.
The successful candidate will need to possess the skills and ability to work within a peer arrangement with Sales Engineers in other geographical regions. Hence organisational skills and coordination within a team to achieve successful outcomes and KPI delivery is a strong preference.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support Account Managers with onsite partner visits, enablement, whiteboarding, presentations, product demonstrations and expertly responding to technical questions, explaining features in the context of solving customer’s business problems.
- Assist partners with technical response to RFPs and RFIs by writing clear responses to commonly asked questions and gathering answers from other internal technical experts.
- Possess demonstrable skills in customer-centric selling and a proven track record using it to help drive revenue.
- Participate as a technical resource at any/all partner meetings, seminars and events.
- Ability to work independently with little guidance and as a vital member of a sales team, providing any/all technical product expertise in building the appropriate solution for the prospect
- Work with the sales team and vendors to support, develop and execute key account development plans in-line with our GTM strategy, as well as reporting back on activity.
- Support partner team by participating in technical calls and meetings with prospective partners evaluating our security solutions.
- Ensure successful on-site or over the phone product evaluations and audits.
- Plan, manage and execute customer product pilots. Hands-On troubleshooting and installation of product if required.
- Develop and maintain strong links with partners, vendors, competitors and other industry entities to ensure you are up to date with trends, issues and developments.
- Strong Extensive knowledge of the following technologies; Servers, Hyper Converged Infrastructure, Storage Area Networks, Network Accessed Storage, Unified Storage Architectures, Storage Virtualization.
- Basic storage fundamentals including but not limited to sizing methodology, fabric design, high availability design requirements, file systems and storage adapters.
- Advanced storage functionality including snapshots, clones, thin provisioning, block based replication, file based replication, application integration requirements and capabilities.
- Excellent time management, multi-tasking, prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and engagements.
- Excellent written, oral communication and strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation and reporting skills.
