Supports process development timeline by completing tasks on schedule
Collaborates and partners with associates from multiple disciplines, including Engineering, Development, Research and Production, to ensure project success
Additional Accountabilities:
Designs, executes and analyzes Engineering Studies to be performed in the lab, pilot line and MTO production lines in areas including, but not limited to: Measurement System Evaluation (MSE, GR&R), Component of Variation Studies (COV) and Design of Experiments (DOE)
Documents study designs using graphical sampling plans and Factor Relationship Diagrams (FRDs)
Documents process knowledge and process investigations using Thought Maps and Process Maps
Performs data analysis including process performance index (Ppk), ANOVA, regression, Chi-square, etc.
Applies intermediate level principles of engineering and / or chemistry analysis, blends technical knowledge and manufacturing practices in providing solutions to problems
Position may require international travel, particularly to Germany for periods of up to two weeks per year
Positive attitude with good interpersonal skills and ability to support a team environment
Skills / Experience:
Proficient in MS Office
Work experience in FDA regulated industry, specifically medical devices or contact lenses (preferred)

Implements/enhances state-of-the-art quality and reliability systems/programs to support R&D objectives relating to instruments (excluding software).
Reviews/critiques product designs, proposed processes, and testing regimens ensuring a rigorous focus on reliability, quality, and compliance throughout NPI.
Leads NPI teams in identifying and executing key pre-verification characterization testing and other activities necessary for continuous product improvement and robustness enhancement.
Provides technical expertise in challenging design for reliability and serviceability of products in development.
Capable of planning, performing, and documenting hands-on testing to evaluate DfR objectives (example: HALT testing, automated life tests, accelerated aging, vibration/shock, drop/abuse, PCBA stress screening, and environmental testing).
Ensures timely completion of testing with continuous feedback to development team for ongoing design enhancements.
Uses analytical skills in statistical analysis, tolerancing/simulation, measurement science, stress testing, reliability assessment, simulation, and design critique as appropriate to support NPI DfR objectives.
Works with technical transfer functions to ensure timely corrective actions of design, assembly, supplier, or other production issues encountered during NPI.
