Health & Wellbeing Officer
We are looking for a specialist individual to lead on the provision of First Aid and medical assistance to students and staff throughout the Academy, and lead on the managing of medicines.
You will play a key role in the ongoing health and welfare of students and staff at the Academy and produce individual Healthcare plans, PEEPS, and Risk Assessments for N Code Children, with support from the inclusion team for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Role Overview
The Specialist Senior Staff Nurse will plan and implement overall standard operational policies and procedures and assist in extending the services provided with Angiography. In addition to its remit, the senior nurse should provide specialist clinical knowledge and practise skills in a broad range of cardiac, radiology and vascular procedures and, when necessary, assist in the role of scrub, circulatory and recovery nurse.
The role will be full-time core hours 8 am to 6 pm, with the possibility of later cases. On offer would be flexible shifts and working patterns throughout the week, plus on-call commitment; however, a requirement of presence within the department for the week would be necessary and in the absence of this correctly deputised. In conjunction with the Head of Cardiac Services, the senior nurse will support specialised consultants’ body with service delivery and resources within a multidisciplinary department, managing the day-to-day performance of their line reporting.
What you’ll do:
To promote and demonstrate contemporary and proactive approaches to planned and acute Cardiac Catheterisation and Electrophysiology and Interventional Radiology nursing practice and collaborate with education links facilitate the advancement of this practice.
Co-operating with the need for occasional and necessary ‘overtime working’ to ensure that any procedure in progress can be completed safely, in the usual fashion, such as extra working time usually being compensated by time off in lieu or overtime payment.
To lead and develop the Angiography team to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence-based care.
To take responsibility for the strategic leadership of designated projects relating to the unit.
Work with the Head of Cardiac Services and the Ward Managers to manage strategic planning for the unit, taking operational responsibility for the effective utilisation of relevant resources.
Collaborate with the multi-professional team and provide direction and example for professional nursing practice.
To understand the post holder’s own role as a member of a multidisciplinary team, recognising and respecting the needs of other professionals, and realise one’s limitations of knowledge, experience, and ability, and identify situations that may require more expert or medical intervention, seeking appropriate support or assistance as and when necessary.
What you’ll bring:
Experience working as a Registered General Nurse in a similar setting.
Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies. ILS certificate
Short course or diploma in Cardiology/Cardiothoracic Nursing or similar history of continued personal development
Evidence to support a programme of personal, professional development.

Overview of site:
The hospital operates as a medium secure unit and runs PICU/Acute service line runs within this framework. Our site has a wide range of therapeutic resources where service users can develop their daily living skills in a bespoke environment. This includes a Recovery College, ADL kitchen, a large gym, therapeutic garden, football pitch, music production studio and many other therapeutic spaces. Service users are encouraged to extend their community skills with easy transport links from the hospital, and a thriving local town centre.
In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to service user’s diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly. You will be an integral member of the Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and OT dept whilst working autonomously with the support of an OTA. The MDT wrap around the service to support the individuals in our care throughout their journey with us to capture and manage risk and relapse in community.
The ward team consists of nurses, psychologists, psychology assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, social workers and psychiatrists as well as 24/7 support from the nursing team and support workers. This means that we are able to meet the changing needs of our service users as they progress through their care pathway, while ensuring their safety is maintained and their independence supported.
