Position Summary
As the Director of Product Security, you will be the driving force behind ensuring the secure design and posture of Illumina software products in premarket and postmarket. The scope of responsibility would include a wide range of various products and technologies, from medical devices in physical encasement to cloud-based software medical products.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Information Security Product Security team, fostering and leading by example secure design organizational culture.
Build and introduce the process and practice of secure design, deeply integrated into day-to-day company practices.
Build a strong team of amazingly solid technical experts, and in partnership with R&D, introduce security as an integral part of every software product Illumina builds.
Build and adapt, across multiple projects, consistent cybersecurity risk management practices.
Build and adapt a robust platform, allowing for continuous support of products in secure state post deployment – both in cloud and at customer’s sites.
Build and run product security hands-on training programs, helping to build working knowledge of product security across R&D departments and drive true culture shift within the organization.
Oversee team’s budget and regulatory compliance.
Tirelessly work on building exemplary product security expertise within the team, innovate, extend and build new capabilities, motivating team members and reaching new horizons.
Requirements
Extensive experience in product security, with a focus on cloud security. Medical device security experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and associated security best practices.
Experience in software development is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of Windows/.NET/C# as well as Linux/Docker technology stocks is highly desirable.
Exceptional leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Track record of successful collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Understanding of regulatory requirements in the healthcare and medical device industry.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in information security, Cybersecurity, or relevant experience. Master's degree preferred.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification preferred.

The estimated base salary range for the Director, Product Security role based in the United States of America is: $201,100 - $301,700. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
