This is a vital role in ensuring MFS can calculate independent Net Asset Values of investment funds. A Fund of Funds Middle Office Operations (FOF MOO) Associate will be a part of a global team that is responsible for data collection of pricing information relating underlying fund positions and loading the information to the security master application.

An FOF MOO Associate will have a strong understanding of what drives the value of an investment fund, the types of products it trades and the nature of day to day operations between an investment fund and its counterparties, all alongside a keen interest in learning new technologies and skills.

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical individual to join our Global Payments Services team as a Manager, Middle Office Operations, Global Payment Services (Internal Job Title: Junior Associate Director). You will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our Global Payments function, whilst having a lasting impact by playing a key role in several strategic global initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

Payment Processing

• Responsible for the accurate input, approval and processing of payments in accordance with established procedures
• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and errors promptly and accurately.
• Liaise with clients, investment managers, vendors and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate processing of client payments..
• Work with internal teams, such as Treasury, Banking Operations and Client Operations to ensure that all deliverables are met.
• Ensure adherence to internal control policies and procedures.
• Analyse payment and query data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Leadership

• Act as escalation point for team.
• Deputize for Manager when required, ensuring that work is fairly allocated across the team.
• Ensure critical issues are escalated in a timely manner to senior stakeholders.
• Represent local team on global projects, and lead workstreams of projects.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy and security of payment processes.
• Develop and implement process improvements.
• Ensure that procedures are up to date, and in line with firm standards.
• Stay informed of industry best practices and regulatory updates as they pertain to payments.
• Analyse opportunities for improvement within the overall payment process

Ad hoc: 

• Actively participate in the development and implementation of new systems and processes related to payments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to product development initiatives to optimize payment processing and client experience.
• Assist with other ad-hoc tasks (e.g. audit requests) as required.

• Required to work early morning shift hours.
• Ensure daily cash and position reconciliations are delivered to the client while adhering to the agreed upon service level agreement.
• Daily confirmation/Settlement activities of trade and collateral instructions.
• Resolve trade related disputes and breaks with Prime Brokers, Custodians, Executing brokers, and Investment Managers.
• Prepare/Review daily client reporting requirements.
• Support trading operations between the front and back office, from post-execution through to settlement.
• Liaising with banks, brokers and custodians to ensure smooth service delivery to clients and completion of deliverables.
• Liaising with clients, banks, brokers and custodians to ensure accurate elections on corporate actions, when required.
• Respond to all client queries through communication directly with client operational staff on a daily basis.
• Input wires at custodian with high accuracy.
• Maintain and update process documentation.
• Provide a complete range of reporting to front office staff along with liaising with fund accounting teams.

Reporting to the Junior Associate Director, Investor Operations, a list of your responsibilities will include:

• Support the quality control review process of daily deliverables following company and department policies and procedures relating to investor registration, dealing, reporting and cash
• Be a main contact for daily client inquiries and deliverables within your team, striving to complete deliverables within Service level agreements, escalate any client or deliverable issues where required and appropriate
• Respond to queries from Clients, Investors, Fund Managers or internal MUFG Departments following a high-quality standard, and provide assistance and guidance to the team members in query responses
• Through experience, provide guidance to colleagues within the team in daily tasks, processes and deliverables
• Participate in regular team check-in meetings/calls sharing information, ideas and supporting colleagues in a positive team culture

Reporting to the Associate Director of Client Operations, you will:

• Provide a full range of fund accounting services to hedge fund clients, including NAV preparation, reviewing corporate actions, verifying security pricing, performing cash and security position reconciliations.
• Provide a complete range of fund administration services to hedge fund clients and investors, including compliance procedures, working with investment managers, brokers, custodians and auditors.
• Provide customer service to hedge fund managers and investors.
• Participate in multiple system improvement projects and automation projects

Reporting to the Associate Director of Client Operations, this is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-growing company in Financial Services.

You Will:

• Provide a full range of fund accounting services to private equity clients, including NAV preparation, booking accruals, security pricing, performing cash and security position reconciliations.
• Prepare pricing of portfolios ensuring all holdings are priced observing the applicable fund documents and valuation policies.
• Prepare capital call, distribution calculation and allocation.
• Prepare fee schedules including calculation of management fee and waterfall, ensuring all calculations observe applicable fund documents.
• Prepare Investor allocations for each NAV cycle ensuring capital transactions are booked correctly and P&L is allocated correctly.
• Prepare NAV packages and other ad hoc deliverables as defined in the service level agreements.
• Complete other ad hoc requests and projects.
• Communicate with internal MUFG teams and external clients, ensuring all deliverables and requests are met.
• Prepare/Assist with audited Financial Statements, audit assistance, and other regulatory services, as applicable.

Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, Client Operations, a list of your responsibilities will include: 

• Manage a team of fund accountants responsible for client deliverables such as NAV production, financial statements and associated reports;
• Ensure the team is trained, engaged and as efficient as possible in achieving organizational goals.
• Partner with investment managers, brokers and auditors for daily operational issues;
• Work with other teams, such as IO, finance, regulatory reporting and banking to ensure all deliverables are met
• Participate in multiple system improvement projects, global and local plans and identifying and building on efficiency improvements
• Ensure the accuracy of client deliverables prepared by your team while observing service level agreement timelines.
• Maintain responsibility for the audit process, prepare financial statements or review such if prepared by other parties.
• Ensure all processes are performed following operational controls as stipulated in SOC1 and all relevant checklists are completed.
• Ensure all fees are billed on time and collected promptly for their assigned team.
• Participate in different system projects and contribute to idea generation for future process or technological improvements.
• Any other ad-hoc tasks as needed by our clients, organization, or employees on their team.

• This individual will be reporting directly to the Head of Operations, Malaysia and the Head of Client Operations, Fund Accounting, Hedge Funds in Singapore

• Review and coordinate investor servicing activities. Including investor on-boarding, capital calls, distributions, and other investor reportings.
