About the Role - Security & Threat Intelligence Lead
Base Location: Havant, Reading or Cardiff

The Security & Threat Intelligence Lead proactively manages the function responsible for identifying cyber threats applicable to SSE's systems to reduce any potential impact to an acceptable level. The role holder, as a specialist in the area, will lead and manage the team's operations and performance against the agreed requirements. The role will work closely with the Threat Detection and Response function and internal business stakeholders.
Leadership and Team Management
- Provide guidance and support to business units and wider teams within IT.
- Oversee day-to-day activities for delivering core functions.
- Develop operational documentation and processes.
- Manage team performance.
Threat Intelligence and Minimising Risk
- Research and investigate attack techniques and recommend ways to defend against them.
- Create scripts and select appropriate tools to test attack paths in line with MITRE ATT&CK principles.
- Discover and identify misconfigurations or coverage gaps in existing controls.
- Follow up on deficiencies identified in reviews to ensure that appropriate remediation measures have been taken.
- Report risks using the defined escalation processes.
Incident Response
- Support security investigations to provide post-mortem analysis to illuminate issues and possible solutions.
- Review system logs, SIEM tools and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity.
- Support incident management and participate in problem and change management forums where required.
Baseline Security Controls
- Continuous evaluation and improvement of Hunting tools. Define operational parameters for use, and conduct reviews of tool performance and outputs.
- Validate baseline security configurations for operating systems, applications, and networking and telecommunications equipment.
- Support defining security testing criteria for systems and applications.
- Collaborate with business unit staff, external business partners and key IT staff members for the purpose of planning, directing, controlling, and maintaining an effective test plan.

Job Description
1. Manage people, processes and tools for optimal operations of IT security services
2. Provide leadership and direction to the IT Security team while taking complete ownership of the IT
Security Operations.
3. Work closely with the Accenture Leadership team as well as the client security team to manage
deadlines of security related operations deliverables
4. Run and improve the IT Security framework and processes
5. Overseeing and executing Cybersecurity activities such as Monitoring, Incident Response and Problem
Management, Vulnerability Management, Security Patching, and Anti-Virus Management lifecycle
6. Identify critical security operations metrics and implement necessary improvements to create improved
security practices
7. Oversee daily IT Security operations while actively monitoring emerging threatens and security
technologies.
8. Run a team of Level 2 security operations engineers
9. Monitor and analyze security systems to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities
a. Stay up to date on the latest security trends and technologies
b. Research and recommend security solutions to address identified risks
c. Revise the Threat Model and discuss and implement changes in SIEM rules and actions
10. Manage security incidents, including responding to alerts, investigating security breaches, and working
on containment, eradication and remediation (recovery) within services levels
a. Act as Accenture SIRO and work with Client SIRO to identify actions, submit incident report, updates,
and post incident report
b. Ensure evidence for impact and severity assessment, and investigations and forensics are gathered, as
needed
c. Ensure security-related incident and problem tickets are tracked to completion and within agreed
service levels/completion targets
10. Monitor security COTS and client subscribed AWS GCC security tools and work with team/client to
implement changes to optimise these tools for daily operations
11. Perform scheduled vulnerability assessments and security audits and coordinate with wider
operations teams to ensure security requirements are met
12. Conduct scheduled review of security firewall rules (NACLs and security groups)
13. Monitor security-related Change Requests and Service Requests are implemented within service levels
14. Lead security team in preparation for and during DR and BCP exercises
15. Train and educate staff on security policies and procedures and maintain security awareness programs
16. Work with Accenture Service Deliver Manager and propose changes to existing operations
process if required
17. Prepare and conduct weekly progress meetings with client Security Working Group and submit
monthly security report.
