8 North is an 18 bed Medical-Surgical unit with Telemetry, and elopement technology caring for patients with a variety of illnesses. Our main focus is infectious disease and caring for the older adult patients with medical needs. We also care for some general surgery patients. Our Care delivery model is a multidisciplinary approach.

New hires who start their employment with a temporary practice permit must sit for their NCLEX within 60 days of starting in their RN role.
A graduate registered nurse may only practice professional nursing under supervision and if the graduate registered nurse holds a current temporary practice permit. Supervision means that a licensed registered nurse is physically present in the area or unit where the graduate registered nurse is practicing.
For Magnet designated RN positions, BSN or higher level nursing degree is required for incumbents based upon previously established parameters; or within two (2) years of placement.
All Clinical Nurse 1 RN’s will be required to successfully complete the Nurse Residency Program.
CPR Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support, formerly Healthcare Provider (AHA Heart Saver courses for CPR are not accepted) required within 30 days of hire.

The Observation Unit is a fast-paced 52 bed unit for both medical and surgical patients needing short-term care. As an extension of the ED, patients here have an anticipated discharge of about 24 - 48 hours; enough time to receive treatments and procedures before being discharged. Top diagnoses on Observation include Chest pain, Afib, Hypertension, PE/DVT, Abdominal pain, Trauma, TIA/CVA, CHF, Asthma/COPD, Vertigo, AFR/electrolyte abnormalities, Syncope, Hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia, and Pre/post procedure (cardiac cath, OR, pacer, ablation etc). JOB REQUIREMENTS

RN licensure is required, issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher level nursing degree is required. For Magnet designated RN positions, BSN or higher level nursing degree is required for incumbents based upon previously established parameters; or within two (2) years of placement in position for incumbents who started after 07/01/2020.
Completion of the Nurse Residency Program or more than 15 months of practice.
CPR Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support, formerly Healthcare Provider (AHA Heart Saver courses for CPR are not accepted) required within 30 days of hire.
ACLS Certification
A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e. not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists the Physical Therapist in patient-related activity by performing Physical Therapy procedures and selected tests and measurements which are delegated by the Physical Therapist and which are commensurate with a Physical Therapist Assistant's education preparation and experience. POSITION SUMMARY: Drives daily from the Suburban Outpatient Pavilion to LGH facilities, physicians' offices and satellites locations in a hospital vehicle, transporting specimens to the core laboratory department for analysis and testing. Transport laundry, storeroom supplies, bulk items, documents and equipment to various LGH facilities and locations. Makes approximately 30 pick-ups/stops per 8 hr. shift.
