- Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets priorities, and establishes schedules for work capabilities of employees.
- Ensure timely performance of work and that quality standards are met.
- Plan, direct, coordinate, and supervise the operational and administrative support functions of the Ocean Cargo Clearance Authority.
- Exercise position management responsibilities, assuring that subordinate positions are designed and structured to ensure optimum efficiency, effectiveness, and economy in accordance with DA Position Management Program.
- Interact with higher headquarters, subordinate units, DoD and state agencies, commercial and military ports, and the commercial transportation industry to effectively carry out the deployment and distribution mission of the Command.
- Maintain liaison with a wide range of organizations to support customers’ requirements for intermodal transportation and distribution services.
- Provide technical transportation and contractual advice and assistance to shippers, carriers, other SDDC elements, military installations, and field activities on matters related to disruptions in carrier service for international cargo movement.
- Recommend contract and QASP changes and updates to increase or improve support provided to customers.
- Identify automated system issues or gaps and reports/recommends solutions to enhance the deployment and distribution process.
- Provide technical advice, continuity of operations, and effective day-to-day working relationships to ensure transportation methods and types of conveyances are in the best interests of the Government.
