This is an early in career position, so expectations and responsibilities will be proportional to education and experience. Successful candidate will be teamed with experienced developer(s) and perform activities with guidance. All development activities are for a bare metal CPU and written in C on custom coherent optical modem.
Learn development environment & processes: Linux, git, bitbucket, JIRA, lab (load software & firmware on product and simulators), code/document inspections, and testing.
Debug/address specific issues – including reproduction, resolution, test and inspections.
Implement software enhancements, from adding new test/debug commands to enabling new coherent modulation types – including design, coding, documenting, testing and inspections.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
C programming language experience
Working knowledge of embedded systems, drives, mutual exclusion, synchronization, interrupt handling, inter-process communication, etc.
Coherent Optics, optical and electrical communication and the techniques involved
Familiarity with optical modulation concepts such as: QPSK, QAM
Low-level Real-Time Software/Firmware Development
Ability to understand CPU Hardware architectures and Timing Diagrams
Bare Metal (No OS), Linux
Linux as a software development environment
Control Algorithms such as PI, PID, LQR, etc.
Device Driver and/or chip configuration/monitoring
Digital Signal Processing, ADC, DAC, FFT, IFFT, various time/frequency domain filters
