Project Engineer Co-Op/Intern
A Project Engineer Co-Op/Intern at Mosaic will be assigned to capital projects focusing on improving facility infrastructure and product delivery. Our student opportunities allow you to learn from professional Engineers, offers competitive pay, a relocation package and opportunity to work with a global leader on exciting projects and much more.
Where will you work:
Four Corners: 11200 R 37 South. Bradley, FL with travel to our Wingate and St. Fort Meade site as need it. Housing and relocation can be provided for qualified candidates.
Term
May 13 to August 30 2024.
Full time Co-Op/Internship. 36-40 hrs a week on site.
What will you do?
Day to day work assignments assigned by the supervisor and could include:
Project execution and management (including scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, contractor management, etc.)
Develop, evaluate, and formulate solutions in projects focused on improving the quality of mining processes
Design/size/validate new or modification of existing equipment
Computer modeling of a process or system
Collaborate with Mosaic’s Procurement team in developing scope of works, preparing requests for quotes and proposals (RFQs/RFPs), listing potential bidders, conducting pre-bid meetings, evaluating bids, writing purchase orders, etc.
Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers (of various disciplines), and contractors
Participation in department meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment
Adhering to Mosaic’s mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies
What do you need for this role?
Sophomore level or higher pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mining, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, and/or Electrical Engineering
2.75 GPA or higher
Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment
1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is required
Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.
Basic computer skills are required
Experience working in a team environment is a must
Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable
Effective verbal communication skills is a plus
Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments

General Summary

Communicate with Foremen and Superintendent to learn about field construction operations and to provide support.
Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors, & the local community.
Assist with the Project Environmental, Health, Safety requirements.
Assist the Project Engineer with approving time cards in HeavyJob. Ensure all equipment and employees are accounted for on timecards.
Assist with verifying quantities in FIS (Field Information Systems) and log quantities for cost and revenue tracking.
Assist the Project Engineer with generating and distributing daily cost reports (trucking, labor, equipment) to the Project Manager, Foreman & Superintendent.
Assist with the completion of daily reports documenting both Granite Construction and Subcontractor activities.
Place necessary material orders, survey requests, locates, etc.
Maintain a to-do list and diary.
Assist with the calculations of yields of materials used such as concrete, aggregate base & asphalt.
Tour jobsite daily with the Project Manager or Engineer to verify quantities claimed are correct and to stay current on overall job progress.
Additional responsibilities as needed.
Education
High School diploma required and a minimum of 2 (two) years of education from an accredited institution of higher learning such as a college or university
