What’s the scope of the role?
As the Integrity Assurance Lead (Senior / Principal Asset Integrity Engineer), you will manage a team responsible for governing capabilities and systems that support the integrity of our assets and span multiple technical disciplines i.e. systems common across electrical, mechanical, structures etc.
The scope includes central assurance activities (e.g. site visits, asset inspections, technical audits), ownership of central digital systems (e.g. common risk tools, equipment configuration / asset register data, technical knowledge base etc.) and governing / optimising maintenance packages.
The role is biased towards operational assets but must oversee and influence our growth projects (development / design / construction) pipeline to ensure the integrity of those assets on delivery into operations. You will be expected to be actively involved in a pipeline of assurance reviews of our growth projects conducted at key gates and operational assets conducted periodically throughout their lifetime.
What you’ll be doing day to day.
- You will provide leadership and development of the Technical Governance Integrity Assurance Team; building a skilled, high performing, and motivated team, with an open and positive working environment, and a culture of excellence, collaboration and trust.
- Providing resource management of Integrity Assurance Team activity in line with CTO and internal client priorities, highlighting any risks to meeting expected deadlines.
- You will govern central capabilities needed to conduct effective integrity assurance of projects and assets. (e.g. non-discipline-specific roles such as risk, common asset configuration coding / information, maintenance packages, and technical performance reporting within digital systems).
- Conducting central assurance activities as part of a clear direction to have a presence out on our generation and storage sites (e.g. site visits, asset inspections, multi-disciplinary technical audits).
- Governing maintenance requirements and support maintenance package optimisation.
- You will develop and own central digital systems and data to facilitate technical governance and oversight; including towards residual life modelling such as digital twins.
- You will be able to demonstrate, by example, adherence and involvement to deliver the four strategic pillars of EDF Renewables UK, namely Zero Harm, Operational Excellence, Business Growth and Inspiring People.
- Zero harm: You will lead by example by proactively maintaining the highest level of standards to comply with all SHEQ requirements while taking care of personal health and safety and that of others.
- Developing and maintaining external relationships with industry bodies, technical standards organisations, academia / research bodies, and wider network in order to enhance, promote, and protect our activity and brand.
- You will actively engage in internal lead teams and committees, and build a strong support network with the wider EDF business.
What do you need to be great at this role?
- You will already be a proven leader, successful in delivering projects/programmes, managing operational assets, establishing/managing relationships, securing and maintaining a safe environment, managing priorities, and inspiring and influencing behaviours and actions.
- You’ll have a strong commitment to safety, health, environment and quality.
- An engineering degree in a relevant engineering discipline or substantial technical experience in a similar profession engineering role.
- Chartered membership of an appropriate body would be an advantage.
- NEBOSH or IOSH (or equivalent) is desirable.
- You will be highly proficient in key areas of engineering in the renewables environment.
- Your experience will be across more than one engineering discipline within the renewable energy sector. i.e. multi-disciplinary or systems engineering background particularly in support of operational assets.
- You will have strong experience of managing risks and challenges in a renewables environment.
- You ‘ll be able to build successful relationships with external partners, peers, stakeholders and reporting line.
- Having excellent command of Microsoft Office package (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, etc.), along with excellent (English) oral and written communication skills.
- Being flexible to travel around the UK and overseas as the role requires and have a full clean UK driving licence.
