Applications are invited for the post of a Locum Hepatologist at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team of 13 hepatologist who strive to provide excellent patient care in a cohesive and forward looking department. This is a fixed term post for one year. The post holder will be encouraged to develop an area of sub speciality interest in addition to providing the service needs of the department which includes managing the Alcohol care team within the trust in delivering compassionate care to patients from diverse background living in East London.

This is a replacement post to develop the chronic liver disease portfolio within the department including alcohol services at Barts Health and to create an increase in capacity across outpatient and inpatient hepatology services. It coincides with the recent opening of the Early Diagnosis Centre (EDC) for cancer surveillance in Mile End.

The post holder will work alongside the established hepatology consultants to support provision of inpatient and outpatient care for patients with general hepatology problems, with a particular development of alcohol service and develop an area of special interest within the chronic liver disease that the department is keen to support There is an expectation that the post-holder will lead the alcohol service for the whole trust and work closely with the Alcohol Care Team to develop innovative pathways and protocol to screen and follow up these cohort of patients. The post holder is expected to join the rota for Hepatologist of the week (1:9 seven day service) with commitment to be part of the out of hours GI bleed rota (1:15). There will weekend endoscopy service list cover built into the job as well ( 2 Saturdays a year)

The post holder will undertake teaching duties of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff and other professional groups (such as nursing and pharmacy). He/she will also assist in local research projects.

Purpose

The purpose of the role is to contribute to the development and deployment of key Amplify Health products solutions, as well as to lead “diagnostic and design” projects with each client. To further leverage areas of expertise including provider-facing risk management strategies for health insurers.

About the role

The consultant will be employed by Discovery Partner Markets Services Pte Ltd and dedicated to the Amplify Health team that is building and deploying Chronic Disease Management and Provider Management solutions for Amplify Health’s clients. This team will also provide specialist strategic and operational support to Amplify’s client companies. The role will be based in Singapore but may require extended in-country assignments to client companies across South-East Asia. The consultant’s specific areas of expertise should include provider-facing risk management strategies for health insurers.

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust is looking to recruit two forward thinking and motivated consultant microbiologists/consultants in infection to join the microbiology team in providing a comprehensive clinical microbiology, infection prevention and control and antimicrobial stewardship service for the Trust and to primary care and public health colleagues.

These are replacement Consultant microbiologist/Consultants in infection posts. One is a full time substantive post comprising of 10 programmed activities (PAs) whereas the other is a substantive part time position comprising 7 PAs.

The successful applicants will join a team of two consultant microbiologists and two Speciality doctors to deliver the service. The appointees will also be offered opportunities to lead on either antimicrobial stewardship programme or laboratory related issues. There is an opportunity to deputise on the leadership of, and also participate in, the successful OPAT programme.

There is a variable and interesting infection-related patient cohort, an excellent electronic patient record system and opportunity for hybrid working i.e.Consultants who are not required to be on-site for clinical duties may be able to work remotely on rotation with other members of the service
• Clinical microbiology (including bacteriology, virology, mycology, mycobacteriology etc.) practice and liaison which will include advising consultants, GPs, trainee doctors, other doctors, nurses etc.,
• Laboratory practice including interpretation and authorisation of results, communicating urgent results to clinical teams as per local protocol, contributing to updating of standard operating procedures and contribute to ensuring the laboratory is up to date with accreditation
• Participation in antimicrobial ward rounds and other multi-disciplinary meetings
• Maintenance of infection prevention and control precautions and also participation in outbreak and incident related meetings

Most of the microbiology laboratory work is carried out at the South West London Pathology (SWLP) hub laboratory based at St. George’s Hospital, Tooting. As Croydon Health Service NHS Trust (CHS) is one of the Trusts that oversee SWLP network, the CHS microbiologists have a very close working relationship with colleagues at the SWLP hub laboratory and participate in all aspects of laboratory management and governance.

The post holders will be employed by the Croydon Health Service Trust (CHS) and the posts are based at the Croydon University Hospital (CUH) site. The successful applicants will join a team of two substantive Consultant Microbiologists and two Microbiology Speciality doctors to:
• Provide a comprehensive, efficient and cost effective clinical microbiology and infection service to CHS and other users of the service.
• Actively participate in antimicrobial stewardship activities
• Support the well established out-patient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) service.
• Participate in matters concerning infection prevention and control, clinical governance and audit
• Contribute to laboratory leadership
• Maintain continuous professional development.

The out-of-hours service for these posts is a 1:6 rota remunerated at 1 PA and appropriate supplementary pay. Applicants who prefer doing alternative oncall frequencies are also encouraged to apply.
