JOB DESCRIPTION

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join the Centre for Holistic Initiatives (CHILD) for Learning and Development, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. CHILD brings together experts in the field of translational research, child health and development, and implementation science to accelerate the use of evidence in policy and practice and give every child the best start in life.

This position requires a strong independent work ethic, interest in education and early child development, ability to collaborate with the research team and external partners, commitment to equity, as well as qualitative and quantitative research skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will:

• Design training packages and conduct training for research staff and early childhood practitioners from social science, health and education
• Plan lessons/coaching sessions, instructional design, and assessment activities
• Establish metrics to measure success and impact of training programmes and workshops.
• Organize in-person and online coaching and training sessions
• Prototype new approaches in teaching and learning, anchored on evidence-informed practices
• Lead and assist in the design, development and implementation of post-graduate educational activities, programmes and courses related to early childhood development
• Design, conduct and report evaluations of training interventions and innovations

ROLE RQUIREMENTS:

Education: A PhD in Education/Psychology/Behavioral Science/Developmental Psychology/Public Health/Social Work/Counselling or a related discipline.

Experience: Candidates with experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

• Implementation science or improvement science
• Behavioural or social sciences applied to child health/development
• Policy and programme evaluation and implementation
• Education/Health Services or Applied Health Research

The candidate should also possess:

• At least 6 years of relevant work experience
• Prior experience in educational approaches and training courses at undergraduate/ graduate level will be advantageous;
• Experience in curriculum design and evaluation will be advantageous
• Experienced in adult training/coaching
• Willingness to travel to various regions in Singapore for on-site coaching/training and, where necessary, a willingness to work an adjusted schedule for any training conducted outside of regular office hours.
• Willingness to undertake further training in coaching strategies and research-related activities
• Keen interest in early child development and passion for research translation and communication will be advantageous.
• Ability to communicate in a second language (eg., Mandarin, Malay, Tamil or other dialects) is a plus

In the area of Cybersecurity, SCIS has a Secure Mobile Centre that conducts research into mobile device, cloud, and platform security.

Our Education. SCIS has more than 100 students taking the Ph.D. in Information Systems and Ph.D. in Computer Science programmes. Ph.D. students can concentrate in any of our computer science oriented research areas, or in our management science oriented Information Systems & Management research area.

SCIS launched a Professional Doctoral Degree, Doctor of Engineering (EngD) in 2021. The programme aims to train students to become IT leaders with deep technical expertise for innovating, designing and managing complex IT systems.

SCIS also offers Master of IT in Business (MITB), a professionally oriented coursework programme, which has more than 500 students. The programme supports a Financial Technology & Analytics track focusing on FinTech and the integration of Technology & Operations in Banking, an Analytics track focusing on applied analytics for business, consumer and social insights, as well as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) track that emphasises building AI-enabled business applications.

You will take responsibility for teaching and providing tutorial support for Counselling courses; producing schemes of work, monitoring their delivery, supervising assessment, providing internal verification and if necessary, liaising with external verifiers/moderators. The Position
This position forms an integral part of the Centre Project on High-Impact Weather.

This is a key role for an early career academic to lead research on the associations between future weather and health. The successful candidate will take a broad approach to examining future weather and health by:

Identifying high-impact weather systems that result in adverse health impacts (e.g. spikes in morbidity, mortality) and their distribution over Australia.
Establishing linkages between characteristics of these weather systems and the health impacts they inflict.
Understanding the spatiotemporal variability and changes of the weather systems and health impacts.
Applying stakeholder-aligned storyline approaches to describe the future of weather-induced health impacts over Australia.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to cutting-edge research developed by the Centre’s project on high-impact weather. They will also work with the Centre’s industry and government partners, including assisting in coordination of the Centre’s Partner Integration Program.

This position is fully funded by the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Weather of the 21st Century. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to and benefit from being part of a supportive and vibrant Centre community which offers unparalleled networking and professional development opportunities. 

The Centre is a major seven-year initiative funded by the Australian Research Council. It is a consortium of 24 partners led by Monash University in partnership with The University of Melbourne, The University of New South Wales, The Australian National University, and the University of Tasmania.

The Centre conducts blue-sky research with real-world applications for communities, industry and government. The Person
This position offers a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic academic in climate and/or health sciences, with a strong mindset for interdisciplinary collaboration. Qualifications

Candidates should possess a PhD degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent.

Candidates are expected to conduct classes for the school's continuing education programs, and to support regular teaching, if needed. For Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor positions, teaching experience or relevant industry experience will be preferred. Besides relevant background and experience, we are also looking for someone with a passion for imparting the latest knowledge in computing to students in our programs.

YOU SHOULD ALREADY HAVE:

Specialise in one of the following:

1. Marketing / Advertising
2. Logistics / Supply Chain
3. Media / Journalism
4. Project / Strategic Management

• At least Masters' Degree and/or Postgraduate diploma in relevant fields.
• Minimum 1 year of teaching experience and/or 2 years of industrial experience in the related field.
• Evidence of good presentation and systematic lesson delivery skills.
• Evidence of successful classroom management.
• Possesses a positive and patient disposition.
• Pro-active student-centered instruction and delivery.
• Good communication skills and a team player.
• Able to work in different conditions and shows positive team spirits.
• Positive attitudes towards work and work related matters.
• Actively support the Head/PIC of the school to facilitate industry attachment for the students

• Prepare and deliver lessons, tutorials and practical classes according to the course syllabus.
• Mark and moderate coursework and assessment papers.
• Prepare exam related administration and perform invigilation duties.
• Provide necessary supervision and consultation with students.
• Feedback to the Academic Director or Head of Department about students' performance.
• Perform relevant administrative functions which are normally related with the subjects you teach and/or assign by the Academic Director or HOD.

Lecturers may also have the opportunities to perform the following:

• Develop and review course curriculum and courseware (teaching materials)
