An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join the Centre for Holistic Initiatives (CHILD) for Learning and Development, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. CHILD brings together experts in the field of translational research, child health and development, and implementation science to accelerate the use of evidence in policy and practice and give every child the best start in life.

This position requires a strong independent work ethic, interest in education and early child development, ability to collaborate with the research team and external partners, commitment to equity, as well as qualitative and quantitative research skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will:

• Design training packages and conduct training for research staff and early childhood practitioners from social science, health and education
• Plan lessons/coaching sessions, instructional design, and assessment activities
• Establish metrics to measure success and impact of training programmes and workshops.
• Organize in-person and online coaching and training sessions
• Prototype new approaches in teaching and learning, anchored on evidence-informed practices

About BISI

The Centre for Behavioural and Implementation Science Interventions (BISI) is a new centre that aims to improve population health and well-being by accelerating evidence-based practice through the use of behavioural and implementation science.

The NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS Medicine) is recruiting a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer to work at the Centre for Behavioural and Implementation Science Interventions (BISI).

The recruited faculty members will hold their primary appointment at NUS Medicine. The level of appointment will be at Senior Lecturer or Lecturer and commensurate with the candidate’s experience and track record in education leadership, delivery and research. As the Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Equine Medicine, you will be providing clinical and teaching services in equine medicine at the Veterinary Clinical Centre (VCC) in the School of Agricultural, Environmental and Veterinary Sciences. A role which provides immense opportunities for professional development and is designed to fit with individual needs while working with experienced equine medicine, theriogenology, anaesthesia and equine surgery clinicians and technical staff. You will be joining a team focused on delivering high-quality clinical services, equine medicine teaching and learning and research. You will be required to deliver teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students in both a clinical and didactic setting. To be successful in this role, you will possess advanced clinical and academic skills relevant to equine medicine. For level C applicants, specialist and/or advanced qualifications in the field of the equine medicine field is required. You will also have proven leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities to engage with professionals bodies and industry stakeholders. Additionally, you will demonstrate commitment to upholding the Universitys values and the advancement of the discipline of equine medicine and the veterinary profession through professional activity and/or research. A relevant qualification appropriate to the level being applied for, or equivalent experience, accreditation and standing in equine medicine
Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW

A record of professional activity and experience in advanced equine clinical practice, and for level C applicants, a record of significant achievement at a national level relevant to equine medicine.

The Position
This position forms an integral part of the Centre Project on High-Impact Weather.

This is a key role for an early career academic to lead research on the associations between future weather and health. The successful candidate will take a broad approach to examining future weather and health by:

Identifying high-impact weather systems that result in adverse health impacts (e.g. spikes in morbidity, mortality) and their distribution over Australia.
Establishing linkages between characteristics of these weather systems and the health impacts they inflict.
Understanding the spatiotemporal variability and changes of the weather systems and health impacts.
Applying stakeholder-aligned storyline approaches to describe the future of weather-induced health impacts over Australia.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to cutting-edge research developed by the Centre’s project on high-impact weather. They will also work with the Centre’s industry and government partners, including assisting in coordination of the Centre’s Partner Integration Program.

This position is fully funded by the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Weather of the 21st Century. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to and benefit from being part of a supportive and vibrant Centre community which offers unparalleled networking and professional development opportunities. 

The Centre is a major seven-year initiative funded by the Australian Research Council. It is a consortium of 24 partners led by Monash University in partnership with The University of Melbourne, The University of New South Wales, The Australian National University, and the University of Tasmania.

The Centre’s team-based research is focused on how Australia’s weather is being reshaped by climate change. The Centre conducts blue-sky research with real-world applications for communities, industry and government. The research program is made up of six integrated Centre Projects: Weather System Dynamics; Climate Variability and Weather Systems; Weather Systems in a Warmer World; Weather Resources; High-Impact Weather; and Modelling Science.

The Person
This position offers a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic academic in climate and/or health sciences, with a strong mindset for interdisciplinary collaboration. The person in this role should be passionate about the affects of how climate change interacts with weather, as this is the scale on which impacts inclusive of those on human health are felt, and is the focus of the position.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to actively networking, disseminating their findings across multiple platforms, independent research and consistent stakeholder engagement. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a passion and vision for developing and contributing cutting-edge science across the fields of climate science and human health.
