Working for a leading University in Birmingham, you will oversee the operational delivery of how their range of courses are taken to market. In addition to direct delivery of specific areas of activity, the Web and Product Manager will have responsibility for a team of Web and Product Officers.
Collectively, the Web and Product Team will ensure the consistent and effective production of key course and subject-level information for prospective students, across a range of platforms. The team will play a key role in the student journey, ensuring the information students rely upon prior to and after applying to the University is compliant, accurate and user-friendly.
The successful candidate will work closely with a range of academic and faculty staff, as well as across Marketing and Communications, to ensure that our courses are presented to external audiences in the most engaging way possible, and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities.
1. Manage a team of Web and Product Officers, setting objectives, driving high performance and deploying resource flexibly to ensure that activity is delivered in line with departmental and institutional priorities.
2. Develop and implement an annual schedule of web projects to support student recruitment across all undergraduate and postgraduate markets.
3. Implement and manage an effective and responsive system to manage web amends required at course, school and faculty level, working to ensure timely and effective updating of content and reviewing significant areas proactively to identify changes required.
4. Identify opportunities to undertake major departmental projects, develop requirements and refer them to the Head of Product, working with the Campaigns and Digital Team to implement as appropriate.
5. Review processes for coordinating ‘Welcome' content in each cycle, making recommendations for improvements to better meet the needs of prospective students and ensuring that content is available online in a timely manner. This will involve coordinating the work of the Web and Product Officers and working closely with the internal communications team to manage the timing and messaging.
7. Oversee the timely and accurate implementation of course launches and closures across internal and external web-based platforms, working closely with the Head of Product and Head of Admissions.
8. Develop and maintain a network of positive relationships with our faculties, including capturing and solving issues around the presentation of our product, under guidance from the Head of Product.
11. Implement effective processes to maintain and update course descriptions across all platforms, ensuring timely and consistent presentation of information for prospective students and internal audiences.
12. Ensure modules across the whole of our portfolio are accurately updated in time for the commencement of each new recruitment cycle, coordinating the work of the Web and Product Officers, and oversee in-year revisions as needed.
13. Work closely with the Senior Web Developer to understand the structure and capabilities of the website, influencing its development to optimise the presentation of content and user experience.
14. Ensure information architecture, navigational structures and design principles are maintained to the highest standards within school sites and across course pages, working closely with the Campaigns and Digital Team.
16. Ensure adherence to key external processes and standards, including the careful and proportionate implementation of accessibility guidelines, data protection legislation and copyright policies.
18. Ensure that a high standard of written English and good technical skills are used across the team at all times.
19. Establish best practice guidelines for the Web and Product team in the production and presentation of content across course, School, and Faculty pages.
20. Identify any areas of training and development required within the team and work with the Head of Product to devise and coordinate training sessions, as appropriate.
21. Represent the team on departmental and University groups as required, including deputising for the Head of Product as appropriate in specific forums linked to the role.
