Kent and Medway NHS Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) is a mental health Trust that provides mental health, learning disability, substance misuse and specialist services to approximately 1.8 million people across Kent and Medway. The role
The post holder will ensure high quality and high value patient care is delivered throughout the Trust. Whilst accountable to the Chief Nurse they will be expected to work largely unsupervised and be able to credibly influence across a range of disciplines to the highest level within and externally of the Trust.
They are expected to deputise for the Chief Nurse with the Executive team as required. This will also include the leadership and management of all the teams and services within the Chief Nurse’s portfolio as delegated and planned.
The post holder will lead a team of senior nurses, including Heads of Nursing and Quality and Specialist Nurses (ACPs CPs, NMPs and AC/RCs) and is expected to offer professional support and supervision to those nurses. The post holder will also be expected to act as a resource for Service Directors and the Deputy Chief Medical Officers for professional advice and support.
You
You will be/have
• a registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
• specialist knowledge developed in primary practice across the range of working practices underpinned by theoretical knowledge and extensive practical relevant to KMPT
• substantial experience at a senior management level, including managing change and introducing new ways of working for nurses.
• significant experience of operationally managing staff teams.
• sound and effective leadership skills.
• experience of Managing regulatory inspections.
• experience of managing complex projects including a number of stakeholders across multiple sites.

• To lead and support the development of a culture of constant improvement in patient care. Specifically, ensure that recommendations from serious incidents are implemented across the Trust and that appropriate and timely review of incidents and near misses are carried out.
• To undertake service reviews and make decisions that ensure best practice is in place across all areas. Responding to complaints, incidents, and near misses, to work with teams to identify areas of improvement and be willing to assist operational managers in making controversial changes in practice to benefit patient care.
• To act as the link between the identified Higher Education Institutes and the Trust, representing the Trust at the oversight board of the university.
• To commission training to ensure that the values of the Trust and the nursing strategy can be achieved at both post graduate level and clinical education and leadership programmes.
