We are recruiting for a lecturer to join our 14-16 alternative provision department to teach maths and science.

Who we are:

Nescot's 14-16 alternative provision unit serves students who struggle with social, emotional, and some behavioural challenges that prevent them from engaging in the mainstream school environment. We provide a supportive setting for students with mild to moderate special education needs or mental health concerns that have caused them to become alienated from the standard academic route. With class sizes capped at 8 students and a robust staff to student ratio of 1:3, we are equipped to give these young people increased attention and nurturing tailored to their unique needs. Our focus is on creating an environment where disengaged students can rebuild confidence, reconnect with learning, and flourish holistically. At CWA our Kings Lynn campus benefits from 4 purpose-built laboratories, specialising in biology, microbiology, forensic sciences, chemistry, physics, environmental sciences and material sciences. Our laboratories are designed and maintained to CLEAPPS standard(G014) as well as have the ability to undertake a range of advance laboratory procedures up to Level 6 including but not limited to genomics via PCR testing, 3D dissection tables for human physiology and data harvesters with over 20 various sensors that are carefully chosen to meet our curriculum needs. The department is proud to have launched a state of the art weather monitoring station with remote monitoring and updating to the central weather system in the cloud.

We work collaboratively with partnership organisations, including the Anglia Ruskin University, University of East Anglia and John Innes, giving our students the best possible experience and access to real world laboratory conditions. We have scheduled visits to ARU SuperLab covering Pharmaceutical and Medical Science as well as UEA Health Sciences rotation workshops We deliver a range of courses from Access to HE diploma in medicine, biosciences, healthcare, forensics, A'Level Sciences and GCSE Sciences. We run a the prestigious Bioscience degree in partnership with ARU and are supported by a great team including fellow Lecturers, technicians and the School of Nursing.

The successful candidate would have a degree level qualification as a minimum in a science related subject. A teaching qualification is preferred, but is not essential as we offer comprehensive training, including teaching qualifications for those entering the teaching profession, to ensure that our staff are well supported. Working within an established and evolving team you will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching in FE In line with the role requirements for this role, the successful candidate is to hold a recognised teaching qualification. This may be a CertEd, DTLLS or DET, or PGCE. If you do not hold a recognised teaching qualification, candidates will be expected to enrol on a teaching course after passing probation. This is a contractual requirement of the role. Candidates should have: • At least 3 years relevant industry experience • A good understanding and experience of current industry practice. • Good understanding of the current Government and national priorities for FE and skills Under the Health & Safety etc. at Work Act 1974 it is the responsibility of individual employees at every level to take care of their own health and safety at work and that of others who may be affected by their acts at work.
