The Singapore Gastric Cancer Consortium (SGCC) is a translational research group comprising clinicians and scientists working in gastric cancer research. The group aims to solve important clinical questions to improve the care of gastric cancer patients, facilitated by close interaction between clinicians and scientists, and with synergism that enables biologic discoveries in the laboratory to be validated in the clinical setting.

Our research theme, “Bringing Discoveries to Patients” was awarded the Open Fund - Large Collaborative Grant by the National Medical Research Council in 2019. This will spearhead key research projects which include molecular testing for gastric cancer prevention, personalized cancer therapy and treatment, characterization of gastric stem cells, and single cell analysis of gastric cancers.

Duties

• Work with Research Fellow/s in the conducting of clinical research projects
• Processing and molecular analysis of patient blood and tissue samples
• Perform lab-based molecular work according to strict methodologies
• Optimizing and troubleshooting new experimental protocols
• Keep meticulous records of experimental work
• Coordinate laboratory operational activities through managing laboratory and sample inventories, establishing laboratory procedures and organization of laboratory consumables

Nestled at the foot of the Brecon Beacons National Park with spectacular views of the mountains Ty Bronllys is a specialist school and children's home in Powys for children with complex needs associated with autism and a learning disability. Ty Bronllys was the first Orbis service to open in 2008, and since then we have seen many children develop, grow and move on with confidence and life skills.

It takes a special type of person to dedicate their career to helping children with Autism to learn and develop. Your patience, empathy and caring nature makes you the ideal person to support our individuals at our school in Ty Bronllys. As a learning support assistant, you will provide education and organisational support to the class teacher, guide pupils during structured and non-structured sessions and assist each student to achieve their full potential. Offer personal care to pupils, in a respectful manner when required.

A day in the life of working at Ty Bronllys includes:


- Providing high quality teaching and learning opportunities using a variety of teaching approaches and activities support pupils to make progress towards their agreed accreditations.
- Supporting teachers with the planning, preparation and assessment of learning opportunities.
- Assisting with the planning and implementation of off-site activities.
- Assisting pupils who require help during morning routines, lunch/break times or with personal care.
