ROLE SUMMARY
This position will be housed in the newly formed RWE Platform, which is responsible for establishing scientific global leadership and stature through the generation of integrated, end-to-end observational real-world evidence serving all therapeutic areas and regions. The Platform will:
enhance Pfizer’s ability to determine unmet medical needs; support current Product Development programs including finding alternatives and accelerated licensure pathways for new indications through the use of Real World Data (RWD), Real World Insights (RWI) and Real World Evidence (RWE); inform clinical practice on appropriate prescription and use of Pfizer’s products; in collaboration with GAV, strengthen the value evidence package for payers and access/policy decision-makers; support measurement of short- and long-term impact of Pfizer’s products to both patients and populations; support competitive differentiation.
The RWE Platform Clinical Affairs, Clinical Scientist (CS) will provide leadership in observational study execution including epidemiological, non-interventional, pragmatic and low-interventional studies and research collaborations ensuring consistency of approach, conduct, monitoring, analysis, reporting and oversight of core team activities within one or more asset programs in the Therapeutic Area (TA) of Oncology.
In collaboration with RWE Platform RWE Scientists, Clinical Epidemiology/Scientific Affairs (SA), Medical Affairs (MA), Biostatistics and Clinical Affairs (CA) Operations, the CS is responsible for execution and project management of their studies. The CS will collaborate with other Pfizer groups to execute the hands-on work for both in-house and outsourced studies. The CS will be responsible for numerous observational and epidemiological studies run as Pfizer-sponsored and/or as non-Pfizer sponsored Research Collaborations.
The CS is a Platform position and may support all types of studies/projects in any region (US, IDM, EM, China) and for Research Divisions (Pfizer Oncology Division - POD) for in scope work.
As co-lead of the Study Core Team the CS will lead via a matrix organization RWE Platform RWE Scientists/Clinical Epidemiology, QCL, Biostats, Operations, Medical/Scientific Affairs, Regional, Pfizer laboratory assay group, and external team members. The CS also has a strategic role in partnership with RWE Scientist/Clinical Epi/Medical/Scientific Affairs to develop practical study strategies in support of the product Strategic plans (Clinical Development Plan, Medical/Medicines Plans, E2E, Integrated Evidence Plans etc..) in line with Pfizer SOPs.
Data generated by the RWE Platform is critical to support clinical development planning for Phase 3 efficacy trials (determine incidence/attack rates and risk groups, identify trial sites), secure favorable reimbursement, enhance the label and to satisfy post-licensure effectiveness regulatory commitments.

Bring strong scientific and communication skills, along with industry knowledge, to support Head of Scientific Affairs & Strategic Partnerships and Pfizer Oncology Leadership Team (LT) in providing senior-level scientific, strategic and operational support with creation and communication of a compelling scientific narrative for external (e.g. investor, healthcare professionals – HCPs) and internal (Board of Directors - BoD) audiences.
Support the Head of Scientific Affairs & Strategic Partnerships in monitoring Pfizer Oncology’s strategy and performance across a broad spectrum of measures, and assess peer strategy/performance to help inform the strategic narrative to internal and external audiences, focusing on investor relations.

Support the Head of Scientific Affairs & Strategic Partnerships in ensuring Pfizer Oncology’s leadership is properly briefed and well prepared for key internal and external meetings and presentations to maintain strong investor relationships.
Work alongside the Medical Strategy Scientific Comms team to ensure alignment in scientific and medical communications between and across all stakeholder groups.
The Scientific Affairs lead will work closely with the relevant groups in Pfizer Oncology (Head of Scientific Affairs and Strategic Partnership, Scientific Affairs team, Medical Strategy Scientific Comms team, Pfizer Oncology LT and Pfizer Enterprise Investor Relations Group) to:
Develop a scientific communications strategy for investors, creating a watchlist of key programs, R&D themes and emerging innovative science, as well as a proactive plan for when and how to communicate them, through a steady cadence of investor events.
Prepare Executive Briefings and Reporting including monthly briefing report for Pfizer Oncology’s extended leadership (i.e., ELT+1), highlighting key internal accomplishments, external breaking science and media highlights.
Leverage knowledge of science & business to develop internal & external presentations for the Pfizer Oncology LT suitable for stakeholders ranging from scientific to non-scientific (incl. BoD and Pfizer Executive Leadership Team (ELT)).
Manage planning and preparation of meetings for the BoD and Scientific committees including overall framing/messaging, generation of pre-read and presentation materials, talking points; coordinate across multiple groups to ensure accurate and consistent information.
Manage requests for information, analyses, actions and decisions from the Pfizer Oncology LT, ELT, BoD, and other Corporate and external constituents in a timely, coordinated manner.

Work alongside the Medical Strategy Scientific Comms team to ensure alignment in scientific and medical communications between across all stakeholder groups.
Responsible for day-to-day management, career development and team leadership for Pfizer Oncology’s Scientific Affairs team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Key requirements
PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or other scientific discipline, or equivalent required
10+ years of relevant BioPharma experience with a strong foundation in scientific communications
5+ years of experience in crafting scientific presentations for executive audiences required.
Successful track record collaborating with executive teams to develop corporate messaging, positioning and scientific narratives.
Highly skilled at Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint and Excel
Ability to multitask and deal with a large volume of requests / deliverables on a regular basis.
Ability to quickly/effectively prioritize and balance competing tasks in real-time.
Demonstrated ability to flex language and style (written and spoken) to suit diverse audiences and levels of scientific, business and financial literacy.
Demonstrated experience with multiple communications media, including digital / social media, video and face-to-face.
Bringing a strong and advanced scientific mindset with broad exposure to diverse therapeutic areas and modalities, and foundation of scientific knowledge to work on scientific initiatives and presentations for Pfizer Oncology’s leadership.
Ability to develop a broad, big picture understanding across Pfizer Oncology’s functions so that this can be appropriately reflected in communications, presentations, briefings, etc.
