Description :
Under general direction, participates in the selection, processing, and application of ferrous and nonferrous metallic materials and/or welding materials, processes, and designs for multiple projects and/or projects of greater complexity.
Conducts analyses and tests of welding and/or other metallic materials, writes test procedures, and analyzes test results for assigned projects.
Must be proficient in the knowledge of standard metallic materials and processes as applied to forgings, castings, welding fabricated parts, and other components.
Investigates the use of alternate metallic materials and processes. Advises and assists in handling metals or welding-related field and manufacturing problems to maintain and improve products and services. Incorporates Reliability, HSE, Quality analysis, and Project Management techniques in all job processes.
Job duties, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.
Requirement:
Skills are typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Materials Science or similar discipline, and 4 years of related experience. Completion of a Master's degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or similar discipline is prefered. Certification as a licensed Professional is also preferred.
