We currently have 2 roles available for Legal Assistant/ Secretaries for this organisation. One for the Family department and the other for the Conveyancing department.
Both roles are full-time permanent, paying £23k.
Working hours are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm. 35 hours per week.

Your new role
Both roles will require the duties below. However, the family secretary role will be based in the Taunton office. However, the conveyancing/ private client secretary will be required to travel to most of their offices during the working week, which are all within local travelling distance-the cost of the travel will either be reimbursed or a company car provided. This info is currently being looked into.
To provide both clerical and administrative support to fee earners, either as part of a team or individually.
The role plays a vital part in the administration and smooth running of the business. Secretaries are involved with the coordination and implementation of office procedures and may be responsible for specific tasks or projects and, in some cases, oversee and supervise junior staff.

You must have audio typing experience to be successful in either of these roles.
Minimum 2 years experience within a legal role.

Salary full time would be £23,000k.

Your new role
As a Legal Assistant, your role will involve:

• To provide a comprehensive administration support including preparation and collation of correspondence, attendance notes and other legal documents through audio and copy typing

• To administer a range of specific key tasks.
• Filing and file management – this includes managing evidence as part of paper files and also in an electronic document management system.

• To be a point of contact for clients in the absence of the Fee Earner and to answer incoming calls (including those to other staff in the office who are away from their desk) in a professional and friendly manner, taking messages and passing them on to appropriate person(s).
• Organise to-do lists and flag up issues that need attention to ensure that Manager is aware of daily commitments.
• To maintain effective filing systems, including preparation, maintenance and updating of client information files; and monitoring the movement of files and documents.
• To prepare bundles for hearings and trials.
• To assist with monthly billing.
• To liaise with the costs team to ensure budgets, costs scheduled and bills are prepared on time.
• To work under close supervision on various aspects of a file, including telephone attendance, preparation of correspondence as necessary.
• To provide guidance to trainees and other support staff when required to do so.
• To ensure compliance with quality standards and the firm's policies in general.

• Experience of diary management.
