The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking an Engineering Planner / Documentarian to perform a variety of duties in connection with the preparation of high-profile business intelligence documents for FAA senior leaders, Lines of Businesses, or other external groups. The position will be supporting the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Engineering Services Group in Anchorage, AK and is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the NISC mission.
This position will support the daily operations of the FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) Program. FENS is the successor to the FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) contract, which was implemented in 2002 to provide over 30,000 communications services to more than 4,500 facilities within the National Airspace System. The program aims to design, build, operate, and maintain the FAA's next-generation communications platform and to build a dynamic, highly available and secure enterprise network to support all the agency's mission-critical applications across the NAS.
The ideal candidate should be able to communicate to a variety of audiences including Engineering Services, Air Traffic Operations, Technical Operations, and System Operations. The ability to work in a team environment is critical as this will contribute to the overall success of the deliverable.

Responsibilities
• Plan and execution of pipe and fibre infrastructure projects, including Common Service Ducts (CSD), Utility Service Ducts (USD), new commercial and housing developments, and backbone Fibre Networks.
• Engagement with various government agencies and utility providers finalise the CSD/USD design.
• Deconflicting management of CSD/USD design and implementation with other infrastructure providers or developers.
• Update Network Inventory records of cables and pipelines according to the planned project and implementation on-site.
• Oversee the project implementation, provide timely updates on the project status and provide assistance to the implementation team.
• Ensuring strict adherence to established operational procedures and engineering directives.
• Conduct acceptance activities to ensure infrastructure constructed is fit for purpose.
• Perform additional duties as delegated by the Supervisor.
Requirements
• Diploma in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines, accompanied by three years of relevant work experience.
• Strong understanding of the planning and construction processes involved in telecommunication or underground infrastructure.
• Knowledge of network rollout or implementation would be an advantage.
• Hands-on experience in telecommunication infrastructure construction, with proven abilities in effective contractor management and communication with internal stakeholders, will be an advantage.
• Possess project management and communications skills.

Evaluate trade-offs while designing across multiple components in a system based on the business requirements. Cloud Migration: Requires knowledge of: Data Center Operations (Production operations, Server, Storage, Systems and Infra, Data Base Management, Systems Management, Helpdesk, DR/Business recovery practices; Platform as a service (PaaS )services for public cloud services(Cosmos, EventHub, Cloud spanner) (Applicable only to the Cloud Enablement Team). To support decommission of the on-prem hardware or convert it into a hybrid set-up or complete cloud setup as per business needs. Monitor the resiliency and reliability of the new cloud environment. Gauge the bandwidth needed to handle the internet connections for cloud access. Support in planning and executing data-center consolidations, relocations, and migrations.
Configuration Management: Requires knowledge of: Configuration management tools and processes; Configuration and release management in environment(s). To update data from all sources as and when configuration changes are deployed. Conduct analysis for simple configuration changes.
Version Control: Requires knowledge of: Version management tool; Product deployment tools and processes; Release verification mechanism. To ensure that any modification to code is checked into correct branch and code merges are done properly. Authenticate and authorize of code changes in the version control system / central repository. Oversee the process of code branching and ensure seamless code build. Ensure that all impacted files are included in release communication.
Integration Management: Requires knowledge of: Types of middleware; Different types of platforms; Functions of Application Programming Interfaces(APIs); Programming languages used for middleware; Principles and protocols for API-level integration; New and emerging middleware products, tools and methodologies in the industry. To evaluate opportunities for creating connections among various hardware and applications. Evaluate suitable middleware to be used for integrating existing legacy applications with current applications as required including cloud systems. Program middleware or other tools to enable effective integration of applications within. Perform API-level integration. Oversee the end-to-end process of application integration to the target environment. Investigate issues or failures of application integration. Facilitate modifications to improve the success of integration between application programs.
