The Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) is Singapore's national institute for applied solar energy research. SERIS has the stature of a National University of Singapore (NUS) university - level Research Institute. SERIS conducts industry - oriented research and development as well as use - inspired basic research in the field of solar energy conversion. SERIS collaborates closely with industry across the photovoltaics value chain.
The PV Modules for Urban Solar Cluster (PVM) main R&D activities are in the development of PV module prototype and technologies for building integration and various urban solar applications, Advanced and prenormative characterization methods for PV modules; Potential-induced degradation (PIO) and other reliability studies. The Cluster operates an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory for PV module testing and a PV module fabrication pilot line. This role is for a research engineer in the module characterization and reliability group to assist in the development of new characterization tools and testing methods for novel PV modules, and in support of SERIS main flagship research, in perovskite-tandems, floating PV and BIPV. A second role is to assist in lab operations and module testing for industry projects. The role will require a good understanding of PV cell and module performance factors, characterization methods and measurement methodology. Familiarity with common PV degradation issues and methods for accelerated testing will be a plus. The work may require the engineering of test setups and familiarity with programming tools such as python, Labview or similar software will be advantageous.
The group collaborates extensively with industry, delivering high quality testing and consultation services. We anticipate potential issues in new PV technologies and applications and develop the means to assess them The group actively participates in international standards bodies and is well known for its strong competencies in module testing.
