Iowa State University’s Department of Industrial Design is hiring an Assistant Professor in Industrial Design, specializing in User Experience (UX) Design. Outstanding applicants may also be considered for tenured positions at the rank of Associate Professor. This hiring is part of the University’s Strategic Faculty Hires in Critical Areas initiative to accelerate the hiring of tenure-eligible faculty in critical areas of strategic importance to the university. Tenure-track faculty in the department typically teach four courses a year, offering a combination of studios, lectures courses and seminars. Job Description:
Berklee College of Music is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Chair of the Electronic Production and Design Department. As one of the leading music technology programs in the world, Electronic Production and Design offers a curriculum that’s grounded in electronic music production, sound design, sound for visual media and immersive technologies, electronic music performance, new musical instrument design, and creative coding. We offer an undergraduate major (EPD), a Sound Design for Video Games specialization, an Electronic Digital Instrument (EDI) Principal Instrument Program, and an Electronic Performance major and minor. Our curriculum is based on the innovative use of technology, informed by practical applications of research in the field that prepares students for a broad range of careers.
The Electronic Production and Design Department includes 35+ faculty members. Many of the faculty provide classroom instruction and directed study specifically for EPD majors, while others teach music technology courses across the college, including the college core technology class that is taken by all Berklee students.
The Assistant Chair will work under the direction and supervision of the Chair and serve as an academic administrator within the Department. The ideal candidate should have advanced expertise in electronic music composition and/or sound design. Significant experience in new and innovative music technologies, modern electronic music production, modular synthesis, video game and immersive sound design, new musical instrument design, and creative coding is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Enhance the student experience and contribute to the advancement of the Department's, Division's, and College's endeavors.
Assist the Chair and faculty in driving departmental objectives and completing assigned tasks.
Oversee the department in the absence of the Chair.
Provide guidance to students regarding academic program options, course selection, and course planning, as well as offer career advice.
Facilitate communication with technical classroom support staff
Teach a minimum of one course per fall/spring semester
Participate in faculty hiring and mentoring to maintain the excellence and relevance of the academic programs.
Contribute to the development, review, and evaluation of the department’s curriculum to prepare students to thrive in their future careers

Masters degree in music technology or a related field or equivalent industry experience
