This is an additional post for a Locum Consultant in Radiology (whole-time) based at Harefield Hospital site of the Trust. The post holder will be responsible for delivery of high-quality clinical care for patients being seen through the Radiology department. To provide clinical services in Radiology at Harefield Hospital. To engage in clinical research in imaging at a level in keeping with the 5* research rating of Kings College London. To supervise and deliver clinical and technical education in cardio-thoracic radiology, and to maintain the international teaching profile of the Trust. Provide clinical leadership and be the Responsible Clinician for the General Adult patients referred to the Liaison team. Review new patients in a timely manner and oversee the clinical management of patients on the wards. Will be available for timely CPA meetings and facilitate discharge planning. Carry out duties as Responsible Clinician, including Mental Health Act assessments, preparation of tribunal reports and giving oral evidence at managers hearings and mental health review tribunals(if required). Clinical Audit: The post holder will participate in audit to ensure the continuous improvement of the service. The old age Liaison services has an experienced full time consultant psychiatrist .The post holder will only be expected to provide cover for holidays and absences.

Theatres The anaesthetic department at CIC provides anaesthetic services for elective surgery in 6 inpatient, and 3 day surgery theatres, as well as a separate NCEPOD theatre and obstetric theatre. In terms of emergency cover the department provides anaesthetic services for 24/7 emergency operating theatre, A&E, obstetrics, and intensive care, as well as ventilated patient transfers as required, most commonly to the North East. The anaesthetic department at WCH provides anaesthetic services for elective surgery in 6 inpatient and 1 day surgery theatre, plus an obstetric theatre. Anaesthesia is provided for general surgery, urology, gynaecology, orthopaedics, ophthalmic surgery and dentistry with a concentration on day surgery, and short stay surgery. In terms of emergency cover the department provides anaesthetic services for 24/7 emergency obstetric theatre, A&E, and intensive care, as well as ventilated patient transfers as required, most commonly to the Cumberland Infirmary and North East of England. This post has been devised to provide consistent Consultant presences on the Acute Medical Units ensuring national quality indicators for acute medicine are met. Consultant Acute Physicians will provide leadership onthe Acute Medical Unit and in ED from Monday to Friday, supporting acute teams in the assessment, initial treatment and care planning for acutely ill patients referred from ED or local General Practitioners.They will be responsible for the day to day clinical management of the unit and develop strong links with the ED, radiology, pathology and other clinical specialty teams to create efficient care pathways to improve thepatient care. The Consultant will provide a high level of clinical expertise and leadership, both for the team for which they are responsible and in borough-wide services. CLINICAL ASSESSMENT AND CARE OF CHILDREN To provide assessment and case management of children and young people with complex Neurodisability and special needs, including in Special Needs schools in the Borough. The Consultant has overall responsibility for their own caseload, which will include children across the borough or living out of borough but registered under a Greenwich GP. To provide supervision of non-Consultant grade doctors, including Speciality Doctor Paediatricians and Specialist Trainees. Provide clinical input to multi-disciplinary clinics for the assessment of children with complex disability and special needs. These assessments include a rising caseload of children with ASD and ADHD that require assessment and further management. Provide Consultant input to medical follow up of children within the special schools. Provide medical advice to Local Authority Childrens Services according to statutory legislation for children with special educational needs requiring Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCP). The Consultant will be supported to develop and pursue their interest in Community Paediatrics.

There is a degree of flexibility within the job plan and this example is for illustrative purposes only. In addition, the candidate will be on the General medial on call rota and MAU weekend rota. SPA activity and clinical admin can be delivered flexibly around the clinical shifts. SPA activity is outlined in the accompanying table and is delivered over the 5-week cycle rather than per week. It would be expected the successful candidate would organise their own timetable with regards to fitting this activity into the job plan.
