Your new company
Our client is looking for a commercial solicitor to join them as an In House Commercial Legal Counsel in their Gloucester office. This British-based company has a global reach and an established presence in its market. They work in a hybrid manner and would look for you to be in the office 2–3 days per week. This role could be part-time (four days per week) for the right candidate. This is a brand-new role and presents a great opportunity to add value within a fast-paced organisation, where you can really impact the organisation.

Your new role
In your role as Legal Counsel, your primary focus will be to support the General Counsel in producing commercial contracts, NDAs, as well as dealing with sanctions and some corporate governance matters such as Compliance, Data Protection, and IP.

Other aspects of the role include:

• Advising on commercial matters and advising the divisional and regional (sales) leads, Finance, procurement, marketing and IT teams in respect to day-to-day legal issues.
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, NDAs etc.
• Liaising with externally appointed Solicitors on specific commercial matters or other matters as requested.
• Identify risk, escalate to the General Counsel as well as senior stakeholders and recommend/implement solutions.
• Work with internal teams and participate in projects.
• Provide sound and creative advice for the company.
• Keeping up to date in relation to legislative and sector-specific changes alongside global changes and best practices.
• Assisting with the delivery of training to internal people in relation to areas of commercial law legal risks.
• Legal (contract) document housekeeping.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed at this role, you will be required to have:

• Fully qualified Solicitor holding a current and valid practicing certificate in England and Wales.
• Strong technical legal skills, experienced in commercial contract drafting (at least 2 years), and preferably with experience of an in-house environment.
• You will be a commercial thinker, with a genuine interest in the sector and in working in-house.
• Able to identify conflicts of interest.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships.
• Demonstrate a commitment to delivering quality service.

Legal Counsel job 2+PQE - Cheltenham + Hybrid working

Your new firm Our highly successful client, who are known for being industry leaders, are now looking for a Legal Counsel to join their in house team based in Cheltenham due to continued growth. This role will work on a hybrid basis, sharing time between home and the office, (circa 1-2 days per week in the office). Whilst the base location is Cheltenham, our client do also have offices in Bristol, therefore you could also work out of this office if preferred for part of the week.
Your new role
You will be:

• Drafting, negotiation and reviewing of commercial contracts, tenders, engagement letters, NDA's, licences amongst others
• Supporting firmwide BAU legal issues
• Responsible for recommending firmwide precedents
• Maintaining internal legal documents, including but not limited to members agreement, terms of business and schedules and confidentiality agreements
• Drafting, negotiation and reviewing of commercial contracts, tenders, engagement letters, NDA's, licences amongst others
• Assisting with general contact matters as appropriate within the business including.
• Assisting with the interpretation and understanding external legal advice

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified lawyer, circa 2 PQE+, with experienced gained either in-house or in private practice. You will have good experience in dealing with contract law including drafting and negotiating commercial agreements directly, and knowledge of intellectual property, information security and data protection including GDPR experience would be advantageous. Knowledge of financial services, FCA regulation and pensions experience is preferred but not essential.
