About Stepping Stones Adolescent Inpatient Unit at Monash Children’s Hospital

The Monash Children’s Stepping Stones Adolescent In patient Unit is a 15 bed inpatient and five transition (Day) bed unit that offers care for adolescents aged 12 to 18 from broader ELMHS. The Adolescent Unit offers mental health Interventions to adolescents who present with acute and severe mental health problems, associated high risk factors and have difficulty maintaining their own safety and the safety of others.

This is a rare and truly exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional to lead and manage a dedicated team located in a brand new state of the art facility. We are seeking a Nurse Manager (NM) (Grade 5) to work in collaboration with the Consultant Psychiatrists to lead a dynamic, positive and cohesive team. The role requires Clinical, Leadership and Management expertise to drive an inpatient culture and model of care that delivers exceptional care to adolescence experiencing acute and severe mental health difficulties whilst offering care and support to their families / carer. About You

As an experienced NM, you will demonstrate excellent clinical skills in working with Adolescence/Young people and Families who are in distress and face complex issues. You are dedicated to promoting their Health and Well-being through evidence-based individual and family interventions. You have extensive experience in Mental Health care and knowledge of developmental Psychiatry. You have established leadership and management skills and lead by example. Our Journey

The Secure Extended Care Unit (Unit 4) is a 50 bed Inpatient Unit based at Dandenong Hospital. SECUs provide medium to long-term inpatient treatment and rehabilitation for people who have unremitting and severe symptoms of mental illness or disorder with an associated significant disturbance in behaviour that preclude their living in a less restricted environment. SECU has a recovery-based model of care. It provides mental health service to patients identified as needing a longer stay in a bed based service to support extensive treatment, assessment, formulation and management recommendations.

Our collaborative multi-disciplinary team made up of: Social workers; Occupational Therapists; Clinical and Neuro Psychologist; Exercise Physiologist; Dietician; Music Therapist; Psychiatrists and Nurses provides targeted treatment and rehabilitation programs that maximise individual functioning, minimise the barriers to recovery, and promote return to community living

About the Role

Join our team as an Associate Nurse Manager – Clinical Lead in our Adult Emergency Department, on an ongoing Full-time basis to work at Monash Medical Centre based at Clayton. The Associate Nurse Manager- Clinical Lead works closely with the Adult Nurse Manager, providing clinical leadership to ensure the provision of safe and effective care and efficient management of the Adult Emergency Department. The role will assist and support staff to manage patient flow within the Emergency Department to optimise timeliness of care, the National Emergency Access Target (NEAT) and achievement of organisational targets. The Associate Nurse Manager- Clinical Lead is responsible for supporting the management of specific portfolios including but not limited to;

Clinical support and education
Roster and leave management
Support services Co-ordination
Staff performance review and development (Grade 2 Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses)
Quality and safety
Emergency management and occupational health and safety
Daily operational performance / support
This role will work clinical shifts within the Emergency Department as required.

About Us

The Clayton Adult Emergency Department provides tertiary emergency services for adult patients across Southeast Melbourne and surrounding regional areas. The Department is responsible for over 60,000 emergency department presentations annually. Once fully commissioned, the adult emergency department will have 75 treatment spaces, including six resuscitation cubicles, eight isolation rooms and a 20-bed adult short stay unit.

There is also a purpose-built Mental Health and Other Drugs (MHAOD) hub, which includes six dedicated cubicles, interview, and sensory rooms to provide an optimal environment to assess and manage patients presenting with behavioural health needs. The Adult Emergency department sees presentations requiring tertiary level care for Neurosurgery and Stroke services and also includes a diverse range of specialist support services onsite.

About You

You are dedicated, driven and a leader in Adult Emergency Nursing.

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

Demonstrated leadership and senior nursing experience within and Emergency Department. Associate Nurse Manager experience required.
Post graduate Qualification in Emergency Nursing or Leadership and Management (or working towards) is desirable

Our Journey

Monash Newborn, situated in the Monash Children’s hospital, is a 64 bed medical and surgical neonatal unit, with a reputation for delivering outstanding family centred care to neonates. Monash Newborn operates as a single unit with 2 Nurse Managers who look after the daily operations and staff management across Sunbird and Kingfisher teams.

A day in the life of an Associate Nurse Manager at Monash Newborn - NEST

You’ll enjoy the variety and challenge that comes from working with likeminded skilled senior staff and mentors, while being supported by your manager and other leaders within the program and broader health service. We are now looking to engage a highly motivated and experienced nursing professional to fill an important clinical and operational leadership role.

Reporting to and working closely with the Nurse Unit Managers, this role provides the chance to demonstrate both your highly developed and proven clinical leadership skills, with the responsibility for managing a team of up to 40 nurses per shift.

Key areas of accountability include:

Ensuring the delivery of high quality evidence-based nursing care;
Working collaboratively with sick and premature babies and their families, and a highly skilled multidisciplinary team to achieve goals and health outcomes;
Establishing and maintaining effective communication with health professionals, support staff and other stakeholders, both internal and external to Monash Health;
Coordinating the department’s activities including workload delegation and rostering;
Consistently role modelling nursing excellence, demonstrating your commitment to family-centred care and best practice standards; and
Contributing to the attainment and sharing of professional clinical expertise through networking with colleagues both locally and further afield.

You are a Registered nurse with a positive attitude who loves to laugh and enjoys being a leader at work with likeminded employees. Along with this, you have proven experience working in a NICU or SCN environment, or an Acute Setting, You are driven and look forward to growing your career with the support of amazing mentors and educators within our highly skilled broader team.

You need:

Evidence of completion of a Post Graduate Certificate in Neonatal Intensive Care
