The successful applicant will be required to assist Radiographers, Sonographers and Radiologists to help deliver a high quality patient focused service. The Regional Hyper-acute Rehabilitation Unit (RHRU) is a 24 bed in-patient specialist neuro-rehabilitation service. It is part of a specialist rehabilitation network and acts as a central focus for research and training of all professions in rehabilitation. The unit offers intensive multi-disciplinary neuro-rehabilitation to adults with severe and complex cognitive, communicative, physical and psychosocial difficulties. This may be due to traumatic brain injury, stroke or other neurological conditions.

Administration Assistant based at Holmer Court, Essex Street , Colchester.

We are looking for someone with the ability and confidence to use their own initiative and prioritise tasks. The post holder must possess excellent communication skills and relevant administrative experience, must be flexible and have attention to detail.

The role will involve providing support to our clinical colleagues with administrative tasks by providing front line support, face to face and over the telephone. This role is Monday – Friday 9 am to 5 pm. We will offer you support, supervision, training and the opportunity for personal development.

You will also need to be computer literate with experience of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. You will be given full training on the various systems that we use.

We are looking for someone with a positive and compassionate approach to supporting patient care. The role will also include telephone calls and face to face contact with our patients and due to the nature of the services we carry out administrative support for, these can sometimes be distressing.

Successful candidates will be expected to work in the organisation, providing services in a professional, efficient, friendly and polite manner.

Some of the main responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to; greeting service users and professionals, answering calls via phone, monitoring an email account for work and processing messages appropriately, ordering, booking appointments and transport, updating clinical systems, covering receptions when required, and general administrative duties to the Clinical Teams. A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and organised Doctors’ Assistant to support our dynamic and friendly Junior Doctor team in the Trauma and Orthopaedic Unit at Conquest Hospital.

The Doctors’ Assistant is a key role working alongside the Junior Doctor/Ward team to provide a caring, effective patient experience and to enhance the patient flow through the Trauma & Orthopaedics department. The role combines a range of clinical and administrative competencies.

The post holder will need to complete the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) induction programme, and successfully complete the care certificate, if this is not already held. The postholder will be expected to undertake the Apprenticeship programme for Doctors’ Assistants (which is a Level 3 Apprenticeship usually completed within 18 months alongside work duties). Training will be given to ensure that the successfully candidate achieves their competencies for the designated clinical procedures required from this role.

We are looking for someone with an excellent administration skills set, good interpersonal skills, able to work as part of a team, but also on their own initiative, with a sound knowledge of ESHT patient systems and a caring nature.

This role is ideally suited to someone wanting to be part of a diverse, forwarding thinking and adaptable department, providing seamless care to our patients whist facilitating the administration aspects of the patient’s pathway.
