About the role:

CLA is looking to hire Accounting Consultants (Engagement Directors) for our CAST practice. CAST provides customized accounting support for our clients (typically larger than $50M) on an interim and project basis. If flexibility, variety, and life balance are important to you…keep reading!

As an Engagement Director, you will:

• Serve as a high-level interim or project-based accounting resource for clients in various industries on accounting, finance, tax, and audit roles (Interim Controller, Financial Reporting Manager, Internal Audit Manager, etc.).
• Design/improve accounting processes such as: monthly close, management and financial reporting, forecasting, consolidations, and system implementations to name a few.
• Take an active and hands-on approach in executing client engagements.

What you will need:

• Ten years relative work experience including public accounting. Prior industry experience as a CFO, Controller, SEC Reporting or Internal Audit Manager equivalent preferred. We love Big Four alum!
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field required.
• Mastery in Microsoft Excel and experience in a variety of accounting software.
• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Prior project management and exceptional client service management experience preferred.

• Developing and revising annual and multi-year long and short-range plans and reviewing DFAS Small Business Program individual fiscal year program goals and objectives.
• Requirements involve a number of separate elements as program, project, or complexity of technical requirements; small or disadvantaged business considerations are at prime and subcontractor levels.
• Monitor contracting operations to assess their effect on agency Small Business programs and the level of compliance with related Congressional mandates and Government-wide policies.
• Review purchase requests and solicitation plans for set aside for awards that are noncompetitive or awarded with limited competition to small business firms; and to provide advice or assistance in resolving procurement problems.
• Procurement management, to evaluate industrial processes and marketing techniques, and business management principles and capacity of small business firms to produce items and provide services
• Maintaining an outreach program (including organizing Industry Engagement events) designed to locate and develop information on the technical capabilities of small businesses.

AN IDEAL ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR POSSESSES:

• At least 10 years of relevant work experience, including 2 + years’ experience in public accounting, or comparable consulting firm. We love Big 4 alum!
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field required.
• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Audit/Internal Audit experience would be a plus.
• Experience fixing things! Designing/improving accounting processes such as: monthly close, management and financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, consolidations, shared services or application outsourcing and system implementations
• Exceptional interpersonal skills. We want someone with the capability to gain the confidence and respect of senior executives and team members without needing to be hand-held or requiring supervision.
• A strong client services orientation including the ability to take an active and hands on approach in executing engagements to exceed client expectations… Our Engagement Directors hit the ground running, provide value, and take pride in their work!
