MAJOR DUTIES:
Responsible for the efficient operations of catering and events. Primary responsibilities are to proactively sell events space rental, and/or food, beverage, and services to authorized clients. Duties include prospecting for new business, both in person and via the internet and telephone. Engages in business activities that generate potential clients and promote the Club and MCCS, such as attending trade shows/bridal shows, hosting client site visits, making outside sales calls to potential clients, telephone selling, internet selling, and attending business networking events in the community. Meets with clients, discusses requirements such as date, number of guests, occasion, and explains services offered, i.e., room, decorations, menu, entertainment, etc.
Prepares client correspondence. Coordinates and hosts, in conjunction with activity managers, site visits to venues.
Perform full range of administrative duties. Maintains catering software database with all current account and client information, events and bookings data and history of sales activities for the account, client, and specific events. Communicates thoroughly when handing over client to MCCS staff for administrative and detailing duties prior to the event. Plans, organizes, and coordinates work. May supervise employees to include assigning and distributing work and reporting accurate time for payroll. Maintains accurate data of guest information on Transient guests. Represents MCCS in business networking events on installation and off–installation as needed. Ensures guest satisfaction. May plan command sponsored events within the facility such as command functions, professional military education, MCCS cultural events, Marine Corps Balls, etc. May coordinate food and beverage needs with appropriate club personnel by preparing banquet event orders (BEOs). Builds clientele from external markets for all catering, conference, and lodging venues. Promotes catering program marketing plan. May prepare private party brochures and advertising material in coordination with the Marketing Division.
Collaborates with Chef to update menus and packages on an ongoing basis for relevancy, with multiple price points and tiers of overall spending.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for assistance when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
