JOB SUMMARY:
The Group Accounting Director is responsible for the Group’s accounting, consolidation & reporting function with respect to statutory accounts and financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, relevant GAAP and statutory requirements. The successful candidate has experience in group consolidation of foreign subsidiaries (50-100 entities), manufacturing related accounting policies, proven skills in team building and is an effective change agent for system implementation and continuous improvements.
The Accounting Director evolves and adapts the financial reporting organization, policies and procedures to changing business environment, technology innovation and global best practices. Success factors also include strong oral and written communication, a hands on approach with an eye for details and quality in all aspects of job deliverables.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Within the organization – Group, Regional & Site Controllers (30 sites globally), FP&A Manager, Tax Manager, BPO Manager and SAP application team.
- External – Primarily with External auditors, financial and tax advisors and accounting services providers.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES – Consolidation, Accounting & Reporting:
- Leadership and oversight of the Group’s global consolidation and corporate accounting team
- Preparation of the Group’s consolidated financial statements (in conformity with IFRS, US GAAP) including subsidiaries, associates, JVs.
- Group accounting and financial reporting policies, procedures and key controls over financial reporting (KCFR), including Chart of Accounts and cost center structure
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly PNL reporting and integrity of the balance sheet.
- Provide technical guidance on accounting matters to the Group CFO and controllers.
- Monthly financial reporting of group results and balance sheet position, including geographical and divisional performance.
- Monthly close of corporate entities and holding companies. Ensure timely regulatory compliances such preliminary tax computation and audited statutory financial statements filings
- Lead monthly close action and deadlines for global finance teams to ensure timely reporting
- Enhance internal control mechanisms and improve the Reporting & Consolidation process, including automation and centralization, where necessary. Lead efforts to standardize Site & Group reporting.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES – Taxation & Innovation:
- Support corporate income tax computation, filing and other statutory compliance matters for corporate level entities (mainly SG and US).
- Lead or support new application or new functionalities implementation efforts to the extend they impact financial reporting (incl Design, Build, UAT, Implement).
- Continue to evolve and improve financial reporting and accounting function in tandem with global best practices and technology innovation as to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Accounting, Chartered Accountant or equivalent
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in a Big 4 or MNC
- Track record in building coherent motivated teams that are results oriented and quality conscious
- Proficient in use Reporting tools (such as COGNOS, Hyperion, etc). Knowledge of COGNOS is preferable.
- Proficient in SAP, Microsoft excel and Microsoft Power Applications/data analytics
- Able prioritize work effectively to meet tight timelines
- Positive learning attitude to go the extra mile to understand and resolve issues
- Fluent and proficient in written and spoken English. Chinese (mandarin) would be advantageous. Strong communicator to effectively communicate with business partners and stakeholders.
