Domestic Supervisor - Band 3 - 37.5 hours - Permanent post

The post holder will work as part of the team supporting and supervising a busy Domestic Team, ensuring all duties are performed, including administrative and clerical to support to the deputy manager.

You will have experience in Domestic Services at a supervisory level. You should have the skills and the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload to tight deadlines. You will need to demonstrate initiative and flexibility in your approach and be able to work to tight deadlines.

Flexibility working on a 2 week rota 5over7 shift pattern

Main hours of work 11-7 but will need to be able to work 2-10 and 6-2 weekends



The post holder is responsible for the supervision of Domestic staff.

In addition they are a key fist line manager within the Domestic service, which involves assisting in the day to day running of services and maintaining a high standard service.

The post holder must be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of cleaning standards and have experience of working within the cleaning industry .

The post holder must ensure staff are trained and equipped to complete all required tasks.

The post holder will have a flexible approach to work and actively support staff through hands-on working.

The post holder will need to have a friendly and helpful manner and have a sensitive approach when dealing with patients and their families.

SECTION 1 – MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Staff
• Responsible for the supervision and wellbeing of Domestic Assistants
• Responsible for supervision of domestic services ensuring high standards of cleanliness and working practices are maintained to aid patient wellbeing and reduce hospital acquired infection, seeking advice from clinical staff when required.
• Responsible for ensuring correct cleaning methods are adhered to.
• Responsible for ensuring domestic assistants follow safe systems of work for all cleaning tasks whilst observing infection control principles including ‘bare below the elbows’ and wearing appropriate PPE.
• Responsible for ensuring all required paperwork is completed correctly and on time, e.g. flushing records, infection clean documentation.
• Responsible for monitoring attendance of staff and ensuring that absences are recorded on ESR.
• Update and maintain porter staff rotas ensuring adequate cover is provided at all times.
• Responsible for the first stage of sickness absence review and Return to Work interviews.
• Responsible for completing departmental administrative documentation e.g. Annual leave requests, Sickness absence recording forms and timesheets and recording on ESR.
• Responsible for ensuring domestic assistants adhere to the dress code policy.
• Responsible for undertaking domestic assistant annual appraisal in a timely manner.
• Responsible for ensuring all mandatory training is completed in a timely manner.
• Responsible for supporting new starters and assisting in carrying out the local induction
• Ensure that staff training is added to the departmental training matrix.
• Responsible for training staff in the correct use of equipment e.g. buffers, mops etc. and on-job training thereafter, to ensure that correct operating procedures are maintained and followed by all domestic assistants. Will support domestic assistants in carrying out the Care Certificate
• Responsible for inputting payroll and reconciling any wage queries.
• Responsible for the initial counselling of staff, acting with diplomacy and reporting to line manager any matters that may require disciplinary action.
• Assist in the interview and recruitment process using the trust recruitment process.
• Ensure the day to day smooth running of the designated teams as part of the wider service through the supervision and training of staff.
• Ensure staff use the correct equipment in accordance to method statements.
• To ensure domestic assistants take responsibility for the safe storage of all equipment when not being used.
• Organise repairs/servicing to machinery/equipment as and when required.
• Ensure that domestic assistants are aware and comply with the departments Health & Safety requirements.
• Responsible for escalating any issues/concerns directly to the Domestic Manager/Deputy.
• Report any risks to Domestic Manager around domestic activity so that the risk register is up to date.
• To complete incident reports for any injuries or accidents to self or others within areas of responsibility in a timely manner.
• Responsible for reporting any risks/ incidents, and ensuring staff are familiar with the incident reporting process.
• To complete incident reports for any injuries or accidents to self or others within areas of responsibility in a timely manner and provide feedback on any learning from the incident.
• To assist management in the handling of complaints relating to departmental services by undertaking investigations and providing reports.
• To act as first point of contact for Domestic services.
• Assist with any cleaning duties as required, These duties will include:• General cleaning
• High and low dusting
• Wet and dry mopping
• Vacuum Cleaning
• Scrubbing floors with mechanical machine
• Polishing floors with mechanical machine
• Emptying clinical and general waste bins and placing bags in designated areas
• Cleaning and descaling of toilets and sanitary areas o Curtain changing – taking curtains down and re-hanging
• Cleaning baths, taps and showers
• Isolation cleaning
• Carpet shampooing
• Stripping and sealing of floors using a floor machine and scrubbing pad, mop and bucket, sucking up machine and stripping chemical following instructions given by the Domestic Supervisor
• Strip and make beds

Communication
• Demonstrate effective communication skills, dealing with patients, visitors and staff in a polite, respectful and courteous manner.
• Assist the Domestic manager in inducting newly appointed staff.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining communication channels between service providers e.g. estates, linen and catering services.
• To liaise with heads of departments to ensure the most efficient use of domestic services.
• To ensure Domestic assistants are given all relevant information through staff briefs, feedback from meetings and other sources of information
• Develop and maintain close relationships with Ward and Unit Managers to keep them informed of all activity relating to the domestic service.
• Liaising with all departments on tasking and planning activities, support close working relationships with areas of need.
• Report any faults (maintenance or other) using appropriate systems and check they are addressed.
• To ensure incident reports are completed and escalated to the Domestic Manager.
• To communicate and report progress on all tasks completed.
• To prepare and undertake monthly toolbox talks with staff relating to relevant issues in that month.
• To undertake annual appraisals.
• Provide feedback to staff from system reports on over/underachieving performance levels.

Communication and Working relationships
• The postholder is expected to liaise with other members of domestic staff to enable the fulfillment of their duties. Where their duties bring them into contact with other groups e.g. other Trust staff, patients and their visitors, a professional working manner should be adopted. When this contact includes members of the general public, common courtesy should be shown
• Communicate clearly with people and involve patients in their care, as individual behaviour can make a significant difference to the patient experience.

General
• Monitor the quality of work activities undertaken by the staff using written and IT based system through audit and working with clinical staff in accordance with target audit scores / KPI’s.
• Ensure Domestics are available to perform deep cleans/fogging within the required time.
• Monitor standards through random spot checks in their own areas to assess domestic performance.
• To operate mechanical equipment i.e. floor machines, sucking up machines, vacuum cleaner, carpet shampooer, steam cleaner.
• Must be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of cleaning standards.
• Have the ability to work on shift as and when required to assist the service as and when required and to work on shift in times of high demand.
• Ensure all relevant staff drive Trust vehicles safely with the welfare of staff, patients and other road users a priority.
• Ensure that all equipment remains clean and in good repair, reporting any defects to the domestic manager and/or assist with arranging repairs.
• Be responsible for all ordering/stock control and receipt and distribution of supplies
• Completion of risk assessments as instructed.
• To monitor Domestic service ensuring compliance with all Method statements and Operating Procedures
• To be aware of Fire Response Procedures and to ensure all Domestic assistants are trained as part of the respons

SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT
• To ensure the correct use of equipment following safety guidelines.
• To refer method statements for the safe use of all equipment.
• To ensure equipment is maintained.
• To report any faulty equipment to the Domestic Manager.
• To be responsible for the daily cleaning of equipment.
• Issue and control of uniforms

Medical Rota Coordinator - 37.5 hours - Permanent - Band 4

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic Rota Coordinator to join our Medical Staffing team here at Tameside Hospital. We are a friendly team that provide an integral function within the HR Directorate. You will be one of four Rota Coordinators, reporting to the Medical Staffing Team Leader.

This is a busy role, and would suit someone ideally with experience of working in a medical staffing environment, NHS or Health Care experience is desirable.

The successful candidate will provide a medical staffing service to a clinical division. This will include a broad range of activities including the coordination of medical rotas, inputting of weekly payroll, processing annual/study leave requests and booking locums to cover rota gaps. You will work closely with the Medical Staffing Team Leader, Clinicians and Directorate Managers in order to review rota templates for your division, ensuring compliance with working time regulations, terms and conditions and maximising efficiency.

In addition to supporting the coordination of medical rotas, you will be involved in monitoring of Exception Reporting, and providing analysis and feedback. You will play a key role in the planning and implementation of the junior doctor changeover. You will also work proactively to recruit and develop the Trust Internal Locum Bank.

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong focus on customer service, excellent IT skills (eg: Sharepoint, Excel, Teams, Outlook), an ability to work with complex erostering systems, a good eye for detail, and the ability to prioritise a busy workload. You will also be flexible in providing cross cover in the absence of colleagues and have the ability to build strong and effective relationships with all your key stakeholders.

The post holder will be part of the Medical Staffing weekend on-call which currently operating on a 1 in 6 rota.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To ensure that the medical rotas for your areas of responsibility are compiled in accordance with the agreed template and issued to medical staff in a timely fashion.

2. To regularly review the rota templates with the HR Business Partner, Directorate Manager and Clinical Lead for your area of responsibility, to ensure they continue to meet the needs of the service, are cost effective and compliant with working time regulations and new deal.

3. To ensure that accurate information is provided to the weekend on-call team on a weekly basis.

4. To ensure annual leave and study leave requests for medical staff are managed in accordance with the Medical Leave Policy and local standing operating procedures, providing advice to managers and clinicians where necessary.

5. To advise, where necessary, on the Locum Booking Procedure and supporting documentation, ensuring that all necessary approval and documentation has been received and checked for accuracy prior to making a locum booking.

6. To act in accordance with the Locum Booking Procedure.

7. To ensure all electronic systems contain accurate information and are well maintained for area of responsibility – for example, closing timesheets on electronic systems.

8. To keep the Directorate Manager/Clinician informed of the progression with filling their gaps on the rota on a regular basis, dealing with any queries they may have, or escalating to the HR Medical Manager if required.

9. To ensure timesheets are processed on a weekly basis ensuring accurate payment is made.

10. To ensure all pre-employment checks are in place prior to confirming a locum booking in order to minimise any risk to patient safety.

11. To ensure systems are in place (and are being adhered to) in order to maintain accurate records relating to Locum CVs, GMC checks, references, VISA status, vaccinations and DBS.

12. To ensure that there is a clear audit trail for decisions made in relation to rota management, for example, evidence of Directorate Manager and/or Chief Executive approving shifts that exceed the capped rates.

13. To accurately record all data relating to locum bookings in order to support Trust reporting requirements to NHS Improvement and the Board.

14. To assist in the preparation of evidence that may be required for ad-hoc audits.

15. To ensure compliance with any Trust policies appropriate to your role and implement any changes to procedures and legislation, as directed by the Senior HR Business Partner.

16. To work with the Medical HR Manager, Medical Staffing Team Leader and Divisional Managers to improve systems within medical staffing in order to improve the quality of service and to reduce overall expenditure.

17. To provide general administrative support to the HR team where necessary, including cover in the event of leave or sickness.

18. To provide supervisory support where necessary to any work experience, voluntary or placement students who may undertake work in the Medical Staffing office.

19. To participate in a rota that covers 1:6 weekend working.



KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

1. Excellent communication skills, in order to convey information to staff, managers and members of public, some of which may be unwelcome (e.g. that the Trust does not wish to book a doctor)

2. To be able to deal with a busy workload with various conflicting priorities. To be able to manage own workload to ensure that all aspects of the role are fulfilled efficiently and effectively.

3. Understanding of the main principles of locum booking, including the Trust’s Locum Procedure, well enough to be able to advise others, and to train new staff if necessary.

4. Understanding of NHS terms & conditions for all medical staff.

5. Understanding of the Working Time Regulations and New Deal.

6. Ability to accurately input data and use complex eRostering systems. Excellent working knowledge of I.T systems such as Sharepoint, Excel, Teams, Outlook and Word is essential. Community Gateway Clerical Officer

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Community Gateway Service. The Gateway receives referrals to the District Nursing Neighbourhood, the Integrated Urgent Care Team and the Adult Social Care Neighbourhood teams.

What is a Community Gateway Clerical Officer?
This is the person at the end of the phone when a member of the public requires access to urgent and non-urgent health and social care interventions. They will gather as much information as possible, assess situations and provide clear, correct advice. This is a pressurised environment where you may be in contact with people in stressful situations; our callers can be upset, angry, anxious or hysterical. You would need to be confident in dealing with people in a variety of situations.

This post will be based at Crickets Lane Clinic, Ashton. The contracted hours will be 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, with the occasional Saturday. The service runs from 8.00am to 6.00pm therefore the role involves working a shift pattern, on a rota basis.

Main duties of the job

To be the first point of contact for service users making an initial contact to the Community Gateway regarding health and/or social care matters.

Based on set eligibility criteria and using agreed algorithms, decide whether a referral should be forwarded to Social Care or Health services, or another appropriate agency.

To provide a service that offers re-direction (to other services), information, advice and simple provision to members of the public and other agencies at point of contact.

Across Tameside and Glossop we are working towards integrating our services through the Care Together programme. The establishment of a community Health and Social Care Single Point of Contact is a key component of this programme. The Community Gateway aims to create a more streamlined and efficient service which will improve service quality, provide a consistent response to all referrers and reduce the need for multiple assessments across community teams. 1.1 Clerical Duties:
• Receive patients, their relatives/carers and all visitors to the A&E department in a welcoming manner
• Register all patients onto the Lorenzo/EMIS system. Updating all personal details as necessary and access for patient hospital numbers & case notes. Where possible, obtain the information by liaising with the patient directly, clearly recording instances when information cannot be obtained.
• Liaise with personnel from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) or appropriate external agencies to obtain patient information as and when required, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
• Co-ordinate the arrangement of follow-up appointments for A&E Clinics and face to face and virtual Fracture clinics.
• Ensure that referrals are promptly processed/forwarded to the booking office for outpatient follow up appointments as instructed by clinical staff.
• Inform a senior member of staff about any serious injury or condition of any patient attending A&E e.g. cancer patient, potential cardiac patients or amputations
• Deal with telephone enquiries promptly and efficiently
• Retrieve all the missing A&E cards not scanned and search for them
• Ensure all A&E cards are obtained prior to attending follow up clinics and ensure any missing data is found
• Ensure the A&E printers/scanners are in working order and liaise with IT/Cannon should any problems arise
• Send GP Letters electronically.
• Make any corrections to the patient episode on the Lorenzo system

1.2 Patient record duties
• Ensure that A&E cards are obtained prior to follow-up clinics, and ensure missing A&E cards and x-rays are located.
• Arrange follow up appointments and prepare notes for these appointments as needed.
• Undertake scanning/filing of the A&E notes and others documentation onto the system
• Complete & finalise the A&E Clinics finding any notes.
• Photocopy relevant A&E card and send to clinics as required
• Fax documentation to GP Surgeries, wards and departments and other members of the multi-disciplinary team as required by the medical/nursing team, ensuring adherence to the Caldicott Guidelines.
• Be flexible where possible 24/7 if a Major Incident is declared or to cover sickness and Annual leave.
• Receive and escort relatives of the seriously ill or injured to the relatives room and provide refreshment as required
• Escort relatives/friends of deceased patients to the relative’s room with compassion.
• Provide refreshments if needed


1.3 Base Clerk Duties:
• Act as Trust resource to admit/discharge/transfer Emergency (non A&E patients) to the wards in liaison with Senior Nursing Staff/Bed Management Team.
• Using Lorenzo admit A&E patients to the wards, in addition to admitting and discharging patients from Urgent Care as and when required.
• Scan patient notes ready for admission to ward.
• Record and notify bereavement office of any deaths in the department and fax the relevant documentation to them
• Book 999 and urgent transfers to other hospitals and prepare relevant documentation
• Arrange Ambulance transport for patients being discharged
• Outcome the patient episode on the Lorenzo system.


1.4 Data entry duties
• Ensure data entry is of a high accuracy standard, ensuring the IM&T Department can produce quality data, in line with the requirements of the Emergency Care Targets.
• Make sure all data needed to achieve payment under PbR is recorded.
• Support the Emergency Care Targets by ensuring data is collected and entered in ‘real time’.
• Validate information entered by others to ensure compliance with
Government/Trust standards.
• Request ‘missing data’ from patients or relevant nursing/medical staff to ensure all data fields can be completed.

• Assess all patients requiring a home visit, applying the appropriate mobility assessment tool.

Hepatology Surveillance Patient Pathway Navigator
Band 3
12 Months Fixed Term Contract- 37.5 hours per week

This is a new role to support the delivery of a robust surveillance pathway for Hepatocellular Cancer for the patients of Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

The Hepatology Pathway Navigator (HPN) will support the Liver Team in proactively tracking patients with liver cirrhosis, diagnostics pathways, and pre/post liver transplant to ensure they are appropriately managed and progress tracked +/- discussed at the weekly Liver MDT meeting.

The post holder will be responsible for creating and monitoring a database of liver patients to support their clinical pathway in ensuring they are booked in the appropriate time frame for tests and clinical review appointments.

Under the direction, guidance and supervision of the Hepatology CNS team and Consultants, the post holder will coordinate the care and monitor surveillance pathways for patients with cirrhosis enrolled in Hepatology HCC Surveillance at Tameside Hospital.

The post holder will also undertake pathway navigator duties and have a specific focus to provide direct support for patients to maintain engagement in surveillance pathways ensuring they receive surveillance scans on schedule.
• The post holder will act as the patient’s navigator tracking their timed pathway against the national guidance.
• The post holder is responsible for supporting patients and their families through the relevant cancer pathway across secondary, community and primary care as required by the patient. They will be responsible for coordinating care, education, and support for people with complex care needs and providing a point of access to patients and carers.

Rotational Physiotherapist
Band 5 - 37.5 hours - permanent

There is a new opportunity to join our friendly acute inpatient physiotherapy team as a rotational band 5. The postholder will rotate through a number of specialist areas on a 6 monthly basis including Respiratory wards, Critical Care, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, MSK, Stroke Rehabilitation, Medicine and Orthopaedics.

As part of the role you will examine, assess and treat your own caseload of patients and participate in CPD, clinical audit and in-service training under the guidance of senior members of staff.

The post does contribute to the respiratory acute oncall physiotherapy rota and therefore the successful candidate must be a driver and have access to a car.

Rotational Occupational Therapist - Band 5 - 37.5 hours - Permanent

This post is for a Band 5 Occupational Therapy rotation. The rotations are 6 monthly and specialities include Medicine, Orthopaedics, Surgery, Acute & Inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation, Community Neuro Rehabilitation and Community inpatient rehabilitation.

The successful candidate will work through these rotations developing their skills assessing patient’s function, environment and determining any equipment, support or ongoing rehabilitation needs. There will also be opportunities to contribute to service development projects and we welcome new ideas and initiative.

We are looking to recruit a motivated Occupational Therapist to join our B5 rotation. The successful candidate will be required to complete relevant Occupational Therapy assessments, derive and deliver treatment plan, provide advice and be responsible for safe discharge planning of patients across acute and community services in Tameside and Glossop. They will manage a caseload of patients, with regular supervision, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

The rotations included in this post are as follows:

Acute medicine, Acute Orthopaedics, Inpatient Stroke rehab, Intermediate Care and community neuro rehab.

Although the majority of these rotations currently work weekdays, there are rotations that will require minimal weekend working.

As this post does include community-based rotations it is essential for the post holder to be a car driver.

SECTION 1- MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To provide skilled occupational therapy assessment, treatment, advice and discharge planning across acute and community services in Tameside and Glossop.
