Automotive Technology is a technical training program. This program has a facility designated “secure” (classrooms, lab, storage area, audio visual area, supplies room and tool room) which must be secured, organized inventoried and maintained with new equipment purchases and changing utilization patterns.
The program uses many types of tools (hand tools, power tools, motorized heavy equipment, computer diagnostic tools, and specialty repair tools) which have to be calibrated, programmed, repaired, and demonstrated. In the English and Reading Area, we have exceptionally talented faculty members who incorporate the latest pedagogy and best practices into their teaching. Their practices range from research essays on cultural identities to how social justice issues impact our communities and beyond. Our faculty members use creative and innovative approaches to help students think critically about their lives, their world, and their chosen career paths by incorporating critical reading and thinking skills into their English composition and literature courses. Montgomery College English and Reading faculty members help students develop their skills to integrate digital storytelling, reflective writing, and creative writing into their student success writing toolkit—in addition to the traditional composition research essay. The faculty themselves practice a range of writing skills. They research, present, and write about best practices in teaching, globalizing the curriculum, strategies for enhancing student success, and creating engaging student experiences. Montgomery College’s English and Reading faculty continue to publish and present their poetry, fiction, white papers, and research articles. They lead student academic conferences, student scholarly collections, and creative writing publications. These positions are part of a collective bargaining unit.
