Job Description
- Feasibility analyses and design of HDD projects
- Perform design calculations, analyses, and simulations including pipeline stress analyses and torque & drag
- Preparation of construction and as-built drawings using AutoCAD
- Writing and editing of design reports, construction plans, procedures, and risk registers
- Conduct safety in design and constructability reviews
- Review offset well data, lithologic logs, and geotechnical data
- Review and approve bottom hole assembly (BHA) design
- Ensure drilling programs, program amendments, and all supporting information including directional plans and permits, are prepared, and delivered on time
- Preparation and signoff of Inspection and Test Plans, ICRs and other quality documentation
- Perform analyses of suppliers and subcontractors prior to recommending for award
- Perform post drilling analyses, including data analyses, and identify processes for improvement
- Participate in tender preparation and cost estimation
- Attend meetings and represent Company with clients
- Other projects or duties as assigned
- The successful HDD Engineer will visit drilling operations regularly and maintain working relationships with field personnel.
- Onsite review of drilling and completion operations and performance
- Onsite review of directional data and quality control measures
- Troubleshoot any operational problems to avoid potential work schedule delays
- Ad-hoc duties as required
Requirement
-- A Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a preference for Drilling Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, geotechnical engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, or Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of drilling engineering experience, preferably with HDD
- Significant experience in drilling design and execution
- Working knowledge of pipeline installation methods and analyses and Geotech.
- The position will require excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and supervisory skills and possess ability to work with field personnel, Project Manager, and clients
- Need expertise in wide range of drilling applications and ability to make sound decisions quickly on a regular basis
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and work with multi-disciplinary teams; and deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships
- Possess sound judgment; organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with multi-disciplinary teams; and deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships
- Strong personnel character, integrity, and willingness to learn
- Energetic with a high sense of urgency, can-do attitude, and willingness to embrace and respond to change
- Must be willing to travel and work onsite at remote locations
- MS Word, Excel, and Project (advanced)
- AutoCAD: 5+ years (preferred)
Geotechnical engineering: 5+ years (preferred)
