The Social worker attends to individual cases when children come into foster care. They conduct interviews and assessments to report on the case, supporting clients via thorough case management and communication to relevant stakeholders, which allow client needs to be met. Department Overview:

Epworth HomeSweetHome was started in 2013 in partnership with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) as the first Therapeutic Group Home in Singapore. The Home provides stay-in treatment for children between the ages of 7 to 12 years old who have experienced abuse. We use the Trauma System Therapy (TST) treatment model to help children with complex trauma and aggressive behaviour.

We believe that with early and appropriate intervention, children can recover and become well-adjusted persons with a healthy mental well-being. Apart from treatment within the Home, we also work with other helping professionals so that all the needs of these children could be met. Together with MSF, we work towards safe placements for these children, when they are ready to be discharged from the Home and well enough to return to the community.

Job Description:

• Work with others in a team to provide an environment of safety for children with difficult behaviours in a children’s home.

The Senior/Literacy Intervention Teacher provides literacy intervention to 5 to 12-year old students with learning challenges and disabilities to cope and remain in mainstream schools. Intervention Specialist (STAR Programme)

The intervention specialist helps 5 to 12-year-old students with behaviour and social-emotional challenges cope in mainstream schools, so that their emotional well-being can be addressed and reduces the risk of juvenile delinquency or mental health issues in their later years. This role is for a committed individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of children and their families through the imparting of strategies to students to help them with their learning, behavioural and socio-emotional challenges, and sharing of skills with parents.

Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct intervention sessions primarily using the Mediated Learning Experience (MLE) approach to impart and equip students with skills to regulate their behaviours and attention issues, as well as manage their socioemotional challenges
• Plan and conduct intervention sessions according to the session objectives based on the individual student’s needs and challenges
• Prepare appropriate teaching resources and materials
• Prepare pre and post-Cognitive Functions and Behaviour Rating Checklist (CFCL) bi-annually or after 20 sessions to evaluate a student’s progress
• Update parents on their child’s progress regularly and conduct a parenting session (every 10th session) to share skills taught and obtain parent’s feedback on their child’s progress
• Conduct a first appointment and consultation with parents and student before the start of the intervention to understand the student’s profile and challenges, as well as parenting styles and family dynamics

Job Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end recruitment such as liaising with departments on staffing requirements, advertising vacancies on various job boards/platforms, scheduling of interviews, drafting of salary proposals, engage in salary negotiations, handling of paperwork prior to arranging job offers, and onboarding of new hires.
• Provide support in development and execution of talent management programme
• Support day-to-day learning and development activities in planning and execution of all training-related initiatives.
• Enhance staff engagement and well-being by conducting people opinion survey, facilitating focus group discussion and execution of staff wellness activities
• Work with schools on internship programmes
• Perform any other duties or HR projects as assigned by the HR Manager

Requirements

• Bachelor of Business / Human Resource Management or equivalent
• Have prior experience in rolling out talent management and succession planning programmes will be an added advantage
• At least 3 years’ HR experience, preferably within the social service sector
• Independent, resourceful & creativity to analyse issues and develop solutions
• Well organized and a sense of urgency in completing tasks and meeting deadlines
• Able to start immediately or within short notice preferred

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide support in development and execution of talent management plan
• Work on succession planning efforts to ensure organisation has a pipeline of leaders for critical positions
• Create and implement structured leadership programme for senior staff to fill leadership gaps
• Provide support in implementation and tracking of Epworth training roadmap
• Support the day-to-day learning and development activities in planning and execution of all training-related initiatives.
• Support HR Manager in facilitating the annual Performance Appraisal process
• Enhance staff engagement and well-being by conducting people opinion survey, facilitating focus group discussion and implementation of staff wellness activities
• Work with schools on internship programmes
• Engage in employer outreach activities for placement programmes
• Perform any other duties or HR projects as assigned by the HR Manager

Requirements

• Bachelor of Business / Human Resource Management or equivalent
• Have prior experience in rolling out talent management and succession planning programmes
• At least 3 years’ HR experience within a mid-sized organisation of at least 150 headcounts, preferably within the social service sector
• Experience in using TIMES software will be an advantage
• Independent, resourceful & creativity to analyse issues and develop solutions
• Well organized and a sense of urgency in completing tasks and meeting deadlines
