Job Description

• You will operate the systematized investment logic we use to create ideal portfolios for our clients.
• You will oversee a set of processes that ingests updated market data along with our view from our research department, applies portfolio construction logic, risk controls, and client specific constraints to determine those ideal portfolios.
• You will oversee our logic for choosing which instruments we want to hold and then deliver the set of trades necessary to implement our portfolios to our trading department.
• You will regularly communicate your understanding and assessment to a diverse group of people, including senior investment managers, traders, and developers.
• You will partner with technologists and researchers to constantly improve our processes, focusing on increasing efficiency or the implementation of new logic or portfolios.

Job Description

As an Associate, Business Development, you’ll help the Client Service Department achieve our mission by ensuring prospective investors and clients receive exceptional service. In order to do so, you will be the ‘air traffic controller’ of your team, responsible for a variety of administrative, operational and project management activities, serving around 30 prospective investors. You will help set goals, brainstorm execution, project manage multiple initiatives, coordinate directly with clients/prospects and internal stakeholders, be the first point of contact for investor requests, and plan meetings, trips and events.

Without the Associate, the team doesn’t run. Associates must be highly organized, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and great at time management. They must communicate professionally, enjoy problem solving, and thrive in a dynamic, relationship-driven environment.

You will drive the following responsibilities:

• Partner with various Client Advisors (senior relationship managers) within our Singapore Office to understand marketing goals and translate the business plan into an organized operational cadence for the team, including providing administrative and calendar support
• Provide high quality and professional client service, acting as the first point of contact for all incoming client/prospect inquiries via email or phone
• Distill information and synthesize the key points to the team and other relevant, internal stakeholders
• Coordinate tasks, activities and collaboration sessions to meet client needs from visualization to scheduling
• Drive execution, provide direction, and project manage initiatives across multiple stakeholders
• Facilitate synchronization and communication across the team, by tracking and reporting on status of key activities and keeping knowledge repositories up to date (i.e. CRM)
• Ensure team and key stakeholders are prepared for all client/prospect interactions (i.e. presentations, prep notes, technology)
• Coordinate logistics for clients and team, including travel strategy, events and presentation materials
• Anticipate and resolve problems efficiently and independently
• Work with other teams on projects to improve departmental operations

Client Service Research Associates (CSRA) play a vital role in service of Bridgewater’s overall client service strategy. From their unique position at the heart of Bridgewater’s client-focused research activity, these individuals have an aerial view into our ever-evolving perspectives on world markets, high-impact company-wide projects and our investment philosophy and processes. CSRAs work closely with Client Advisors and Bridgewater’s best & brightest investment minds, collaborate on how to handle different client-focused research or performance reporting projects and execute on the approach by project managing, performing analyses and generating insights to help shape clients’ investment thinking or provide transparency into our performance and positions to meet clients reporting needs.

Bridgewater’s market-driven approach to client service requires our CSRAs to continually expand their understanding and knowledge of the markets. Through formal training and informal on-the-job instruction, CSRAs become well-versed in our investment approach, process and different strategies, our book of business, and our production systems. Successful CSRAs will:

• Develop a holistic understanding of portfolios and portfolio management principles
• Understand the depth and breadth of Bridgewater’s market knowledge as well as its pioneering work in institutional asset management and alpha and beta separation
• Contribute to Bridgewater’s world-class client service strategy through creative thinking about how to generate insights and convey key messages to our clients about our investment philosophy, strategies, performance and outlook in the markets.

You will drive the following responsibilities:

• Understand Bridgewater's book of business, related commercial strategy and our investment thinking
• Contribute to Bridgewater’s world-class client service strategy through creative thinking about how to generate insights and convey key messages to our clients about our investment philosophy, strategies, performance and outlook in the markets
• Strategize with Client Advisors, other Research teams and investment professionals (at times including ClOs and other Sr. Researchers) and help develop best approach to handle client requests, enable high quality client engagements
• Apply analytical skills, market knowledge, and an understanding of Bridgewater's investment methodology to create insights to help shape clients' investment thinking or deliver client-ready portfolio position and performance reports to allow our Client Advisors, Investment Strategists and Chief Investment Officers to tell the Bridgewater investment story in a rich and accurate way
• Work creatively with existing methodologies and tools to identify and solve problems in how we serve clients by contributing to the creation of new tools, models, and or "machines" to automate and streamline our processes

The CSRA role is a great opportunity to transition into Bridgewater. While the position does not require deep experience in asset management, qualified candidates will have prior experience in a related professional services environment.
