The Opportunity
This position supports the global Cardiometabolic and Informatics business unit. Our rapid diagnostics solutions are helping address some of the world’s greatest healthcare challenges.
This role is the key point of contact between Abbott and our Third-Party Manufacturer (TPM). As the Sr. TPM Operations Manager, your primary focus is to elevate supplier performance and ensure product supply. You will seek to drive continuous improvement while also resolving day to day issues.
What You’ll Work On
Act as the primary liaison between our TPM and Abbott Cardiometabolic and Informatics
Ensure that capacity, capabilities and systems are in place to deliver reliable and cost-effective supply from TPM.
Anticipates risks and proactively develops mitigations to minimize impact to the business.
Monitor and track key performance metrics.
Lead continuous improvement, cost and process improvement projects.
Complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations with the TPM and Abbott teams
Liaise with purchasing functions to understand pricing structure for key instrument components.
Responsible for knowledge of TPM business, systems and processes
Build effective relationships with key partners in Quality, Engineering, R&D, Purchasing, Regulatory, Legal, Supply Chain, and Logistics.
Accountable for TPM P&L including standard setting, cost changes and purchase price variance.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
8 or more years of experience, both overall and any industry-specific experience.
International and domestic travel 25%.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree, MBA Preferred.
At least 8 years of experience in working with multiple functional areas and possess an understanding of the various operational disciplines (Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, Purchasing, Production Planning) is essential.
Minimum 10 years of strong technical, problem-solving and influencing skills.
At least 5 years of experience in a role with the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
At least 5 years of experience in a role with a sense of urgency with the ability to make and implement tough and timely decisions with a focus on results; ability to adapt to changing business demands and take accountability.
Plastics and molding theoretical understanding or technical understanding in previous positions is ideal.

The Opportunity

This new position will work closely with Global and Regional Market Access, Marketing, Medical & Clinical Affairs, and Research & Development colleagues to help ensure patients gain appropriate access to Abbott’s life changing point of care, rapid diagnostics. This unique role will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across all geographies and across infectious disease states, such as Respiratory Diseases, Malaria, and HIV, that affect millions of people every day.
The Associate Director, Global HEOR, will be responsible for the development and execution of clinical & economic value evidence plans, aligning with the clinical and economic evidence requirements of key markets to gain appropriate reimbursement and funding from public and private payors.

We are looking for a leader who will inspire greatness in the team, use global healthcare industry knowledge to guide accelerated product adoption, expansion into new markets, and deliver strong long-term business performance.
As the head of the Rapid & Molecular Division Health Economics and Outcomes Research, you will own HEOR approach including value modeling, value-based storytelling, and value dossiers from insights to execution. You will work across businesses and across functional groups including Global Marketing, Market Access , Research & Development, Medical & Scientific Affairs, and Finance. Under minimal supervision, the position of Global Product Manager, Cardiometabolic is responsible for the strategy, global market development, product management and support of multiple cardiometabolic assays with contributions to strategy and commercial support for the Cardiometabolic platforms broadly. The scope of this position is to define the portfolio strategy with supporting business cases, contribute marketing inputs to drive R&D projects, and to develop and execute marketing strategies and tactical programs to achieve business plan objectives, goals, and P&L commitments, as well as ongoing business management including analysis, forecasting, and budget management of programs supporting the commercial success of these product lines globally. Abbott currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager, Strategy - Neurology Franchise in our Rapid and Molecular Diagnostics division. You will own the strategy to expand our point of care neurology portfolio with additional indications and new products. You will work across divisions including stakeholders across Global Marketing, Commercial Leadership, Research & Development, Medical & Scientific Affairs, Operations, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs and Finance. This role will report to the Director Portfolio Strategy & Business Development in our Lake Forest, IL location.
What you'll work on
Detail the current state landscape by mapping care pathways, clinical guidelines, sites of service, financial/reimbursement structure, role of diagnostic tests, industry players serving the market, and key opinion leaders.
Develop deep customer insights by partnering with Abbott’s market research teams on ethnography, primary and secondary market research.
Predict the future market landscape by analyzing new product pipelines of therapeutic, diagnostic biomarkers, point of care tests, & imaging products. Synthesize clinical, operational & financial factors impacting the sector.
Build reimbursement and pricing landscape assessments for some novel biomarkers.
Create a differentiated & executable strategy for long-term growth
Develop recommendations and target product profiles based on strong customer/patient segmentations, a deep understanding of unmet needs & relative value proposition, and an understanding of development & technological risks.
Identify opportunities to partner with pharmaceutical companies or other interested parties on funding or collaborations to support the development of novel biomarkers.
Develop rigorous business cases supported by market research and informed by cross functional assumptions. Present business cases to senior leadership.
Work with R&D to prepare portfolio plans and business development to identify, evaluate and execute licenses and acquisitions.
Deliver proactive, transparent, and effective communications cadence to ensure timely dissemination of information with the executive leadership teams and matrix stakeholders.
Ensure that the cross-divisional and cross-functional team members work as “one team.”
Required qualifications
B.A., B.S., or M.S. degree preferably in a technical field (e.g., biological or neurological sciences)
10+ years of experience in healthcare with a background in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, devices, or consulting.
In depth knowledge of methods and practices to drive medical strategy development, operating model design, enterprise-wide solution delivery related to biomarkers.
Ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time.
Preferred qualifications
A Ph.D. or an MBA from a top tiered school
3+ years’ experience in neurology-related diagnostics, therapeutics, or clinical care

The Opportunity
Our location in San Diego, CA currently has an opportunity for an Instrument Lead. The person hired in this role is responsible for the instrument hardware design and the development of electro-mechanical aspects for our new point-of-care instrument platform. Reporting to the Head of Platform Design and New Technology, the successful candidate will translate customers’ input and commercial vision to technological parameters and product specifications in the instrument hardware design and development.
If hired, you will work with colleagues within and across Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Business Units as well as external partners to strategically define, design, and execute all elements related to the hardware for the new point-of-care instrument platform. You will also be responsible for design concept, prototyping, components selection, resolution of technical hurdles, and multi-phased qualification of the instrument hardware.
What You’ll Work On
Translates customer requirements and market needs into hardware platform architecture and technology roadmap(s) to aid the hardware design and development for the new point-of-care instrument platform.
Adopts efficient mechanisms to work with hardware engineers and design teams in multiple locations.
Able to apply hardware design expertise as well as platform development and commercialization experience in hardware design. As hardware technical lead, able to simplify the complex, evaluate technologies, recommend options, make tradeoffs, and drive effective solutions.
Able to successfully integrate at the system level by working closely with Assay Developers, Consumable Designers, Optical/Detection, and Firmware/Software teams.
Deep knowledge in key instrument hardware areas including sensors, optics, electronics, mechanical/drive, thermal, power, and enclosures. Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving ability.
Able to develop the test methods, supplier material specifications settings, release specification development, Bill of Materials development, process scaling, packaging, design transfer to manufacturing and validation/verification planning.
Ensure overall adherence to the product development process and full compliance with the quality system.
Able to prioritize, and balance requirements for features, performance attributes, cost, and menu expansion. Able to drive to resolution when conflict in requirements occurred.
Familiar with regulatory and clinical validation requirements for IVD products in US and international regions.
Experience leading very complex, interdisciplinary and highly complex projects.
Required Qualifications
MS/PHD degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering or similar field of study.
12 years of experience in a similar role of expertise.
Understand assay development and integration to devices.
Preferred
At least 10 years of successful experience in hardware and instrumentation development, preferably in a medical device, in IVD field, or other regulated environments. Direct experience with point-of-care instrumentation is a plus.
At least 5 or more years of experience as technical lead in previous or current role.
Cognitive skills:
Demonstrated strategic, critical thinking, curiosity, and ability to learn quickly and solve problems effectively.
Experience in working with large teams, with internal and external development partners in multiple locations and globally.
Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
