Job Overview
We are looking for a Consultant to join our Asia Pacific Actuarial team based in Singapore. In this role you will have the opportunity to be part of a growing team and you will have an outsized influence on the strategic direction of the practice.
In this role you will: a) be part of our Oliver Wyman Asia Pacific Actuarial team closely working with the team in Hong Kong on projects in Asia Pacific, b) work with our US Actuarial team, and c) collaborate closely with our existing Oliver Wyman Insurance Consulting, Mercer Consulting and broader Marsh McLennan teams in Singapore.
The Consultant will play a key role in the delivery of projects for Oliver Wyman’s clients, which include top tier insurance companies, reinsurance companies, investment banks, regulators, and private equity firms.
Potential projects may include:
- Creation and analysis of financial projections
- Insurance mergers & acquisitions
- Capital markets transactions support
- Product development
- Financial reporting
- Pricing assumption
- Model methodology review
Potential responsibilities may include:
- Client and industry presentations, surveys, case studies
- Work in partnership with our management consulting and strategy practice
- Contribute to sales revenue through developing proposals and delivering client pitch meetings
- Thought leadership, including oversight and/or creation of intellectual capital
- Operate with a high degree of personal responsibility and accountability for the maintenance of a portfolio of clients
Skills and Attributes
- Strong preference for candidates with prior consulting and client management experience
- Progressing on actuarial exams, with preference for qualified associate actuary (ASA/AIA/AIAAor equivalent actuarial credentials) with 3+ years of professional experience.
- Track record of rapid learning, high performance, and professional growth
- Knowledge of the life insurance market in Singapore and Southeast Asia, including insurance regulations or reporting bases, such as Singapore RBC2, IFRS-17, etc.
- Strong preference for expertise in actuarial modeling software (e.g. Prophet or Moody’s Analytics AXISTM)
- Strong preference for recent experience supporting in IFRS 17 implementations in Singapore including direct hands-on experience on all aspects of UAT and IFRS 17 production
- Experience with actuarial consulting and reinsurance
- Hands-on experience in AXIS modelling
- Actuarial valuation experience within a reinsurer
- Recent experience with climate risk stress testing
- Technical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent time management skills
- Deep critical-thinking skills and problem-solving ability
- Highly motivated individual and willingness to work in a dynamic environment independently
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
